Today’s NBA is barely recognizable.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My point was they were 20-14 but they were struggling and losing games they shouldn’t have been losing. This isn’t a knock on LBJ I’m just saying the all star game should be about a player playing at an all star level not how the team around him is playing.
Well a player carrying a young team to 20-14 record in a stacked western conference is definitely worth an allstar nod imo

Exactly why Conley shouldn’t have been taken over Fox....Conley is not carrying his team.

Being a 70s dude I’ve got my man Jarrett Allen out there rocking the ‘fro, blocking shots, stealing’ and dealing’, pounding the rebounding and smiling and profiling. Put some custom made bell bottoms on the brother with a dark purple silk shirt, platform shoes and get Paliament / Funkadelic in da house. We need da funk!

The game today is a joke. People will confuse it with modern day bigger, faster, stronger and more skilled.

Yet the game is trash….

Bucks 125 vs Spurs 146

Jazz 116 vs Warriors 119

Rockets 129 vs Blazers 140

Wizards 124 vs Hawks 125

Honestly, why would I buy a ticket to go watch 2 teams play 1st quarter all star game caliber defense ??

The league is sad…

Today’s game is soooo predictable. 2-3 passes and fire up a three pointer! That’s all the league is now. Down 10 shoot a three pointer, up 10 shoot a three pointer, up three with less than a minute in the game shoot a three, down one point with less than a minute shoot a three pointer. Yet I consistently see guys missing point blank layups! The game has become lazy. Very few players want to work for points!
The game has become lazy and soft! I watched Curry against the Jazz last night go the rim at least 10-12 times for layups and NOT ONE TIME did anybody lay a body or lick on him! Ridiculous!

This season has been a complete disaster between injuries, the level of play, everything about the Brooklyn Nets, buyout nonsense, blatant tanking, etc.

Drastic changes are needed or this league will soon become irrelevant, no matter how hard ESPN tries pushing it.

I agree on the first part, but the NBA is as popular as ever. People love the higher scoring, up and down, 4 point shooting play.

What are you basing this on?

Just googling NBA ratings, this is the first link that pops up:

Headed into the final week of the 2020-21 season, the NBA has averaged 1.4 million viewers across ESPN, ABC, and TNT, down 13% from last year’s disastrous COVID-interrupted, bubble season.

Coming into the 2020-21 season, NBA games on ABC — the league’s most prominent broadcast partner — were down 45% since 2011-12. Yes, 45%. Within that same time frame, NBA broadcasts on TNT were down 40%, and ESPN was down 20%.

ABC’s damning declines are most concerning. Last season, the NBA on ABC recorded its lowest average on record, 2.95 million. While exact figures are yet to be determined, ABC games this season will still come in lower. In other words, lower than an all-time low.

Last month, fans were so fed up with stars randomly sitting out that an episode of AEW Dynamite (1,219,000) — the country’s second-ranked wrestling promotion — topped the much-hyped Nets-76ers (1,095,000) matchup head-to-head.

There's lots of bullshit in that article (Outkick is trash), but the numbers are what they are - fans are bailing on the NBA. The league might be good for instagram and tiktok but when it comes to actually watching games (where the real money is), less and less people are doing it.

Except they are losing ratings because of the social justice message. People are taking a stand against the NBA taking a stand. I am not trying to get political, but nowhere I have read or seen is it because of the game itself.

You are using a fact to prove a different opinion when the 2 are unrelated.

Also the new tv deals might triple, so lower viewership might not hurt the NBA.

The peak of the modern NBA was 2016.

Not kidding. Fan engagement was high thanks to the record-setting Warriors and LeBron's return capped off by an historic Finals.

It quickly went to pot after that as people despised the Warriors for adding Durant, and then watching LeBron leave for LA. LA poaching AD. Another star leaving a title winning team for another LA team.

Big-market super teams, diva stars breaking contracts, lack of elite parity.

There is very little to recommend the current NBA to fans. It went from high to low in less than four years.
