Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My daughter is 21 months and it has completely warped my perception of time. It seems like she is simultaneously growing up so quickly but is also still just a tiny human that has been in the outside world for nearly two years.

She’s long since entered the stage where she is a little parrot, and then some… and no matter how quietly her dad tries to swear under his breath, she somehow manages to hear it with her supersonic dog-like hearing and repeat it. :chuckle:

I called my 26 month old a 'pill' yesterday while conversing with my older half sister on Marco Polo. He was being such a handful. She watched and heard as he said "pill pill pill" proudly over and over. It was hilarious.

So Terrible Twos are actually a real thing? My daughter just turned 2 and instantly started acting like me giving her a bath was the equivalent of being violently murdered. Also throwing tantrums over every little thing.

Sigh lol.
From my experience 6 to 11 years old is the sweet spot for children. Before that or after that require constant supervision

Our oldest we never really had any issues or the terrible twos stage... One time I can think of she had a major major major meltdown because Walgreen's f-ing scanner would not scan a Magic Mixies correctly... Never seen anything like it. She was 3 or 4... She took the umbrella out of the stroller and smashed the handle on the side walk, yelled at people when they walked by etc... Magic Mixies... lol I was in awe over it...

Our youngest daughter who is 13 months is just teething bad... So far we have dodged this bullet...

Now my golden retriever who is a little over one has definitely entered the terrible twos lol lol lol

Days are long, years are short. My daughter is 8.5 and it feels like yesterday she was 3

2 year old here has some really great days and some really bad ones. He's a little angel at preschool, though!

Right now Dada is trying to get him some OKC toddler one piece pajamas. We still like onesies as he's still early in potty training and sometimes likes to play with diaper contents now. There was literally just one of these left, so Dada asked if there was another team I liked (he recalled there was!). I explained the Cavs, but the Cavs don't have toddler pajamas. :(

I will also add one other thing: Even when they're having meltdowns, **try** to take joy in it. These are little problems, big problems will happen.

For example, just yesterday my daughter (and her friend) – both very smart & kind – decided to help an older woman / stranger find her dog. Didn't see them for an hour, panic set in, talking to myself "I know you're not stupid enough to go into this persons house" and of course they were stupid enough to go into their house.

Now, we live in Rocky River – a place that doesn't have high crime. That said, the sure panic I had for that 1 hour stretch was something I never want to live through again (spoiler: Im sure I will lol)

My kid is not even 16 months and is already a complete fucking asshole. Tantrum city. Over everything basically :chuckle:

He's cute though.

Question for the new parents.. my grandson gets a lot of ear infections. Do they still put in tubes for that?

Both my boys had multiple tubes, and oldest suffered until his adenoids were removed around 3..
Our little dude got his tubes January 2024 at 15/16 months. In 2023 he had well over 10 ear infections, but they were minor. Apparently he had fluid settling when he would get sick (daycare kid). We went to ENT in August 2023 and at that time the count was about 6 or 7. Doc said to give it a few months and check back. Started happening more frequently so in December went back to ENT and they said yep it's time. Went in at like 7 AM for appt, left by 7:15 AM. Extremely quick. Longest part was waiting to get into the op room. Worst was meeting back up with him after procedure and seeing him all out of it and crying. By the time we got home (only 15 minutes away), he was normal self and playing around. Since then, he's had a few ear infections, we knew 100% because we saw stuff oozing out of the ear. First time we called doc panicking and they said it was normal and to just treat with ear drops. Ear drops are magic. Before he'd get rashes and such from the amoxicillin and now its just 3 drops into the bad ear and pretty quickly fixed. At first we were extremely hesitant for getting tubes, rightfully so...they say the whole thing is a lot worse on parents then them. Now...I'm an advocate for it. Works wonder. Helps him sleep through the night easier too since not up coughing and messing with his ears.

Getting babies/toddlers into a routine early is CRUCIAL. We started when he was 3 months old doing the same things right before bed and yeah its tough, but we didn't alter it. He caught on quick and since starting he has slept through the night pretty much every night but a handful.

It's awesome seeing him, now 18 months, develop his personality and be adventurous.
Also, I'm going to call him 18 months until he's two because I can't math and always forget what month he is on...after 2, he will be 2 until 3. When should people stop using months? Find it weird when people say that their kid is 38 months old. Ridiculous to me.

I think months are fine until they are done with the toddler stage at age 3. Development and milestones get much more spread out by then. Months are still fairly important at one and two; for example, there are CDC milestones for 30 months that are different from 24 and 36. My son in particular needs to start jumping by 30 months (he's 27 months) or else he might need some occupational therapy. He's also a little behind in speech, especially variety of phrases (3 word phrases, such as "look at me," are expected by 30 months). He's getting better with verbs, though.

Also completely agree on the routines aspect. Mine is an excellent overnight sleeper because I'm big on keeping consistent routines.

Yeah, maybe this is what we did right with our first. She was sleeping through the night completely by 3 months, usually on weekends I actually have to get her up at like 830-9 lmao. So naturally I’d like our second to be just as good but I know we’ll get buttfucked. We were always rock solid with the routine though so perhaps it’ll work a second time.
