As we all now the MLB trade deadline is just about to start. There are some good players in rumours these day. The good thing is a lot of them are White Sox players. The bad thing about it is that they probably aren't going to deal to a divison rival. It would be nice to see Mark Buehrle involved in other rumours then going to the Red Sox, but there are guys like Eric Gagne that would look better then Joe Borowski closing games. Other names like Chad Cordero and Akinori Otsuka who might be in the Tribe's Plan. In my opinion Griffey Jr. would look nice in a Tribe uni, but he probably would wanna play center field which is a problem with Sizemore. Another guy would be Troy Glaus he could come in and make a good impact on us with his expierence. Adam Dunn another, but he is by far one of the worst outfielders I have ever seen. We can't play him at DH the only spot would be 1st but would we be willing to dump Garko for it? Probably NOT..
There are some Indians I would like to see go like Byrd, Borowski, Rouse(waive him), Nixon, and Michaels. Just thought I'd start this to see if the Tribe will make a move or stay put.

I to am pretty glad about the White Sox demise, The Sox getting Mark Buehrle would be a nice addition since Schill is out.

As far as the Tribe goes, i think you guys will be fine, your closer is pretty good he has 21 saves and is in 2nd for the best in the AL, you arent going to get some dominate closer like Eric Gagne circa 02-04, closers will blow a few games here and there, thats just statisitics. As far as Griffey goes, i think he will go to the Mariners. I dont think the Nats are going to let Chad go, he is about the only thing they got as far as pitching goes, and thhey have said they are trying to build up pitching through the farm system, so i dont see that going down. I think you guys just need to keep playing the way your going if the Tigers keep on going strong and the Yankees somehow start winning more games, that would put you guys in risk of missing the playoffs.

Dolan is still a cheap POS..

Wouldn't surprise me at all if we were sellers at the deadline..

A winning cheap POS. difference between evaluating raw talent and bringing it up through the system. its not like you guys are the Devil Rays or something and havent had a big name on your team since Wade Boggs.

The Devil Rays have Carl Crawford you sayin he ain't goodor a big name player??? He is just as good a player as most major leaguers and is yet underated

I doubt we make a major move... and usually at the deadline you get robbed of all your young talent in the minors. I'd like to see us with a more reliable veteran utility guy off the bench in place of Rouse. But what else do we really need to change?

And just out of curiosity gooden00, why do you want to see us get rid of Byrd and Borowski? And dumping Garko for a guy like Dunn would be complete insanity.

First I am not for getting rid of Garko I was just saying that I don't think that the Tribe would let Garko sit for Dunn. Second I want Byrd gone so that Adam Miller can come up..Borowski because he is a set up man not a clsoer.. I know he has 20 saves, blah blah.. but if we make it to the World Series do you really want our season in his hands in game 7???

I'd be patient with Adam Miller, his day is coming. If there is any injury in the rotation Stanford will take over for now. Expect Miller to be called up in September with the roster expansion (he's just coming back from an injury himself), but he's earning valuable experience now in AAA. He's only 23.

And yes, I do feel comfortable with Borowski. Despite his 6-something ERA, he is getting the job done for the most part. Who else is out there that you want instead of him? Bobby Jenks? :chuckles:

no, not Jenks but as I have watched over the last few weeks. I would'nt mind a Borowski Betancourt swap. I know Betancourt has tried closer before and did ok, but right now he has the best stuff in the bullpen.

I'd rather keep things as is... Betancourt has been studly in his set-up role. And it's not like Borowski has been a complete gas can, blowing up leads and killing us. He's been ugly at times but he is getting it done. I honestly feel a lot more confident with him running onto the field in the 9th than I did with Wicky.

no doubt Wickman sucked its just that I would really like to make the pen batter going down the stretch. Another way to do this is to bring up he young guys. Perez is a good young pitcher we could bring up Miller and bring him out of the pen in August to help stablize it.

After he just gave up that homerun?

He had the most saves one year with the Indians and you are going to say he sucked? I think Wickman was the most under rated closer... He did scare everyone, but he got the job done.

Then why did we trade him away if he was such a good closer????:uhh:

We did him a favor by trading him last year to a contending team. He gave every indication that last year was his last in the majors. And honestly, does anyone really miss him out there in the 9th???

^^^ Could end up being another slick move by Shapiro too. The guy we got for Wickman (Max Ramirez) has played well in Kinston this year. .302 BA, 10 HR, 43 RBI. He will be in the Futures Game during All-Star weekend in San Fran (Sunday, July 8 @ 4:00pm on ESPN2). AA pitching prospect Chuck Lofgren will also be there. It will be a good chance to see some future members of the Tribe. Grady and Victor played in this game too...
