Trade ideas: Offseason edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
#1 is actually a great trade for the Cavs IMO. Bledsoe fills a need as a backup PG, and while I don’t love his contract, between Bledsoe, Love, and Nance that’d be $60 mill in expiring contracts next season. All our core pieces aside from Allen would be on rookie contracts (barring trades).

Not a fan of the second trade and I have no idea why the Kings would want Sexton when they already have Fox, Hield, and Halliburton. Makes no sense at all unless they’re planning to play predominately three guard lineups.
If Altman was secure in his future, he might be interested in option #1. But trading Prince and Sexton for Bledsoe and another pick this year plus next years' Laker pick does little to help us win this year. All these trade ideas probably need to be filtered through the more wins now mantra.

Koby just has to look at how long the two GMs before him got. This is the year he needs to make this team level up. I think he has to do it with Sexton, Garland, and #3. If he trades Sexton or Garland and either one makes a jump on another team while we don't make a equally big jump, he will probably have to pack his bags.

We really should be looking at who we can trade for with Love, Cedi, Nance, and Prince plus the 10 future 2nd round picks we have. Windler probably can be added to that group if someone wants some young talent in return.

An opposing GM (or an exceptionally good looking message board poster) could argue that Windler is neither young nor talented...

I mean, I've been seeing a few trade ideas with windler and extra bringing back solid pieces, and I just don't see that happening. It's like the knicks trying to get impact players for obi toppin or kevin knox. GMs around the league probably chuckle a little after they hang the phone up.

Cleveland receives: Darius Bazley, 6th pick (Barnes) & 16th pick (Trey Murphy)

Oklahoma receives: Collin Sexton

Why?

Cleveland gets a good group of players & picks.

Oklahoma receives a proven talent that fits nicely next to SGA.

PG: Darius Garland
SG: Jalen Green / Damyean Dotson / Dylan Windler
SF: Isaac Okoro / Scottie Barnes / Taurean Prince / Cedi Osman
PF: Larry Nance Jr. / Darius Bazley / Dean Wade / Trey Murphy
C: Jarrett Allen / Isaiah Hartenstein / Kevin Love

The thing about Windler is he has flashed here and there when he has played. It's health that has held him back. I'm not saying he is worth alot but someone will take him over someone like Knox because he hasn't failed on the court yet.

He is probably worth equal to a second round pick. It's the salary that can also help when we package for another player.

I wouldn’t entertain either of these trades as they do not help the Cavs rebuild

If Koby were to propose that trade, Oklahoma would laugh in his face.

Number of teams asked about Windler the previous offseason. I’m not sure right now but I don’t want to give up on Windler just like we gave up on Denny Green and Joe Harris early in their careers.

8. Sexton for Kira Lewis Jr., Pick No. 10

I kind of like this one.

Gives us another guard in the rotation, to try to develop.......and then at 10, Moody, Wagner, Garuba.....maybe Kispert if we somehow land Mobley?

With 10, you can also trade a future asset to someone like Orlando at 8, if Sengun were to be there.

This one seems like a realistic trade where both teams probably feel good about it.

You take No. 6 and No. 5 everyday of the week without looking back.

Sure. But I honestly don't think those are remotely trades the Cavs can expect here. :chuckle:

The one with Jaylen Brown is especially a pipe dream.

They wouldn't trade him for AD. There's no way in hell they are trading him for Sexton and a pick.

The Lewis + 10 for Sexton seems like a deal I could actually see happening. NOP doesn't really need more assets.......they combine two to get a better guard. The Cavs then get back a young guard to slot in the 6th man spot, that either opens up the 2 for Okoro (drafting Mobley or Cade) or for Green. They then take a player at 10 or use it to move up tacking on an additional future asset. Logically, that one makes a lot of sense for both teams.

Cleveland receives: Tyler Herro & Precious Achiuwa

Miami receives: Collin Sexton

Why?

Cleveland moves on from Sexton, getting two quality pieces in Herro & Achiuwa.

Miami gets Sexton, who is young & has alot of upside. He's a good scorer & Miami needs perimeter scoring.

I honestly would rather ride out Collin than take back guys like Herro and Achiuwa.

What is their path towards being a truly valuable foundational piece for the Cavs?

Herro is wildly overrated and a replacement level player.

Achiuwa isn't anything at this point.

I just don't see how you trade a scoring asset as good as Collin and not get a quality draft asset or a more certain player in return.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I would much rather have the something like the 12th pick in this draft than I would Herro & Achiuwa.

A trade like that, to me, is just like a quarter for two dimes.

This is where I am as well.

I don't want to trade Sexton, but if it is best for our future then we have to consider it. And I am a huge Sexton fan, but a bigger Cavs fan.

A pick in the 8-12 range of a solid draft is worth looking at.

I agree. I posted that trade because I saw it on another website. I'm not a particularly huge fan of Herro though.

I sort of get this, but is a player even = to Collin's value available at 10? Maybe. You have to nail that pick and basically hope lightning strikes 2x nailing a late lottery pick. We got a good one at 8 in a stacked draft, and now we are going to hope we get another. It's risky.
