Trade ideas: Offseason edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I sort of get this, but is a player even = to Collin's value available at 10? Maybe. You have to nail that pick and basically hope lightning strikes 2x nailing a late lottery pick. We got a good one at 8 in a stacked draft, and now we are going to hope we get another. It's risky.
Fair question for sure.

I'm looking at this from the assumption that we won't be getting a player equal to Sexton, but hopefully would get a piece or two that shape our roster better.

For example, #10 from NO could possibly yield us Wagner, maybe not an all star, but a guy that could be our starting SF for the next 10 years.

If the concept of taking BPA and you aren't going to build around the ones you hit on then it becomes this endless circle especially if we are trading for draft picks. We go back to a roll of the dice and years of development just get wasted.

If we are going to try to trade players for other players, we probably need a very clear picture of what works and doesn't on our team first. If we start losing value because we are trading now for positional fit, what was the point of taking BPA to start with. If you make a trade in anticipation of fit then it doesn't work out the next trade we lose even more value and it becomes this endless string till you hit a dead end.

Sure. But I honestly don't think those are remotely trades the Cavs can expect here. :chuckle:

The one with Jaylen Brown is especially a pipe dream.

They wouldn't trade him for AD. There's no way in hell they are trading him for Sexton and a pick.

The Lewis + 10 for Sexton seems like a deal I could actually see happening. NOP doesn't really need more assets.......they combine two to get a better guard. The Cavs then get back a young guard to slot in the 6th man spot, that either opens up the 2 for Okoro (drafting Mobley or Cade) or for Green. They then take a player at 10 or use it to move up tacking on an additional future asset. Logically, that one makes a lot of sense for both teams.
Would you do a trade of 3 & Sexton for 10 and Ingram? Probably have to add filler from both sides but Ingram slides in at SF with Love and Allen then Okoro and Garland are your backcourt with the pick at 10 being jalen Johnson or Moody?

I just don’t think Ingram is good enough to forgo Green or Mobley.

If I am letting go of both of those guys, there has to be a great chance of Barnes as a consolation prize. At 10, that just isn’t happening.

Ingram is a solid player on the wing, would be the best guy at that spot we have since LeBron but I don’t think he’s dynamic enough to pass on two guys that have star talent.

I usually don't make trades offers, and I'm not a huge fan of Simmons, but this one works lol

May have to swing some picks to Houston

Line up would be

garland
sexton
Simmons
Mobley
Allen

If a guy is starting at a wing position for 10+, he better be an all star multiple times.

I put this in another thread but a 3 way trade between the Cavs, Charlotte, and the 76ers make sense. Cavs sign and trade Allen to Charlotte. Charlotte sign and trades Graham to the 76ers. 76ers trade Simmons to us. There probably needs to be filler and assets to make it all work.

I don't know who Charlotte likes better between Rozier and Graham but they need a center and are reportedly interested in Allen. Cedi or Prince could be added to the deal to make salaries work.

Cleveland receives: Gary Harris, Terrence Ross, 5th pick & 8th pick

Orlando receives: Kevin Love & 3rd pick

Why?

Cleveland trades down for two picks & unloads Kevin Love for better contracts.

Orlando moves up for Evan Mobley.

I would do the deal, I just don't see Orlando doing the deal. They had a pretty good center in Vucevic that they traded away to get one of those assets, so I can't see them trading both to get another big back only. If it was Cade or Green, maybe, but I think they are a team that will benefit more from keeping those two picks rather than trading them.
