Week #5 - Baker Bounce Back @ Bolts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Fries were poor. I think the longest fry was an inch. Price is good - under $10 - but I'm so old i remember the McDonald's commercial where you could get a burger, fries and shake for under a buck.
The fries are an absolute mess.

I cannot believe ppl go to this place

Ground and pound wins this game. Keep the ball out of Herbert’s hands. Don’t need Baker to sling it 40x for 300 yds, just need him to get timely completions on 3rd downs and be efficient. Hoping Stefanski runs Chunt right at Bosa early and often to wear him out.

I used to go to Whataburger, Taco Cabana and Krystal Burger (White Castle) when I was in college. We all considered it “great drunk food,” and nobody I knew ever went there sober.

I think drunk food is universally considered sloppy, greasy, salty, fast and cheap.

Nobody hyped these places up as anything else so the expectations were low and we never went there at any other time. When you’re drunk, you’ll eat just about anything in the first place.

If I ever went to In n Out, I’d have expected a really good meal before reading this thread because of the hype it’s gotten. I feel like this is a classic example of quality not meeting the hype and misunderstanding of the role of the product.

Has quality gone down over the years or something?

Dumb story- when I road tripped to Vegas, I decided to hit up an In and Out burger. The one right off the strip was insanely packed- had buses stopped there to get food, drive through was out to the street. So I Google Mapped one about 3 miles away, in the middle of a burb, and it was empty. And it wasn't bad, but wasnt worth the detour. In the end, I should have just bet the $11 I spent there on craps, because that is all it gave me in the end.

Switching topics somewhat... everybody is freaking out about James Hudson and The Safety Hance starting at tackle for the Browns.

I just realized the Chargers are starting a guy from the XFL named Storm Norton at tackle. He played college ball in Toledo and never played NFL ball until this year. He's literally a rando you might have pounded wings next to at B-Dubs.

We might see some defensive fireworks on both sides.

I think the Browns lose this one. I’m thinking something like Chargers 24 Browns 14. If Baker plays like last week, this isn’t particularly close.

So he probably smoked some bowls with Kareem Hunt when he was at UT, maybe they have valuable Intel to offer their respective squads. Honest I'm a little disappointed that the Browns werent in on a guy named Storm.

Think the injuries to the O-line will be too much of an impediment to overcome. If it’s a win it’s because the defense continues to dominate and the run game carries the team to a low scoring win

I am thinking the offense finally clicks this week and we surprise people. Minus KC, the offense has been underwhelming outside of the run game. Our defense seems to have confidence in their skills and the addition of Walker will only help. Definitely going to give up more points than the last few weeks, but not a shoot-out.

My “couch coaching” prediction, is a lot of running, screens (RB/TE/WR) and some end around action. Baker will be able to dink/dunk and have a few opportunities to go downfield on PA.

BROWNS - 28
CHARGERS - 24

Looking forward to seeings a dominating run attack today--

4. I asked an NFL executive about the Chargers defense. He said they try to “confuse” you with the different formations, as Stefanski mentioned. But the goal is to prevent big plays, meaning they will give up yards on the ground. They are far more concerned with negating the passing game. They also dare you to run the ball.
5. The Browns lead the NFL in rushing. With most teams, you don’t have to worry about what the executive called “explosive plays on the ground.” The Browns are different with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The Browns lead the NFL in rushing yardage, rushing TDs, rushing first downs and rushing attempts.
6. The Chargers rank No. 30 in stopping the run – allowing 5.3 yards per carry. Part of the reason is their accent on defending the pass. This could open the door for the Browns to dominate on the ground and set up passing plays with play-action fakes.

We as Browns fans have never seen Baker without Jarvis Landry for an extended period before now. Baker's numbers without him aren't great. I hope people are seeing his value - great chemistry as a possession receiver.

Baker's inaccuracy is the wildcard. If he sheds whatever threw him off last week, the Browns win. That said - Baker is still on the road in a dome. It's harder than it looks.

This game has some risks of being a classic trap game even though the Chargers are not considered to be a lower tier team, they seem to be regarded fairly highly around the league.

Do the Chargers ever move Bosa to attack a mismatch? Will they try that today? I'd worry if they did. Can Herbert get time to throw? If he does I think he can pick us apart even though our defensive backfield has shown a lot of tenacity.

I think our success comes down to us protecting Baker, Baker making some accurate throws, and our defensive line getting home against Herbert while our DBs stick close enough to make him hold the ball.

In other words, the same plan for success for every opponent this season.

The Chargers are favored :chuckle:

There's no such thing as a trap game when you're the betting underdog.

You are right that Herbert's going to toast any DB failures by the Browns, so Greedy & Ward need to stay tight today.

But Baker's accuracy is kind of lower down on my list. Accuracy isn't that important if the QB doesn't see the wide open reciever camped out on the other side of the first down line. And there isn't an O-line in the legure that can hold Bosa off forever if Baker spends too much time staring into the secondary trying to figure out OBJ's route.

I'll stick with the keys to the game being that classic 1980's combo of establishing the run game and a solid D. Once those things are in place, Baker can get his head straight and start playing like Baker again.
