Week 5: Browns @ Titans (1:00 P.M. CBS)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Did Gilbert even play yesterday?

Have we hit on a first round pick since we have been back? Should have just taken Mack or Watkins.

He played. For the first time his name wasn't called in game. Can't tell if it's a sign of what's to come or a fluke.

On a side note: I hate these new defensive pass interference calls.

Yea I was wondering the same about Gilbert. He didn't record a tackle/PD/INT. You saw Skrine and Haden getting burned in the 1st half but never saw anything from Gilbert and the announcers never said his name. Typically for a defensive player, if their name isn't said they've probably played a good game.

What an incredible win. The Titans pulled their best Browns impression yesterday but the Browns did a great job of coming out of the half with intensity and a sense of urgency. They marched down the field to get a score even if it was a FG then on the next kick off they made a vicious tackle at the 15 or so to pin the Titans back. Those things helped set the tone both on offense and defense and knocked the Titans back on their heals even though they still had a lead of 22 points.

This thread is another gleaming example of why to not be in the Browns game threads.

Wow, just saw the forearm shiver that Kirksey threw at Locker's head. He better be suspended for that. I realize he was frustrated that the WR that whoever he was covering had completely stoned him in the end zone and he couldn't shake free, but that was just brutal. Browns fans would be seeing red if that had happened to Hoyer/Manziel/whatever QB that you like/don't revile. He better get a suspension for that.

13% of the plays for Gilbert? Huh.

Whenever I start getting annoyed by the first round picks, I immediately focus on the Buffalo pick coming next year.

And for anyone wondering, Mack is the only reason to watch a minute of Oakland Raiders football. His run defense is a thing of beauty.

Considering all the top draft picks this team used on defense, it is woefully underperforming. However, I think a lot of that is due to the new PI/defensive holding penalties.

How many 3rd downs have been converted on defensive penalties? Too many. Once our secondary learns to cover without penalizing I think we will be okay.

Why don't they rush Kiki more? They drop him into coverage continuly, but he hasn't been successful there. His pass rushing must be that bad I guess..

Read Grossi's article from last week with Pettine (vomit just saying that). Mingo's drop back ability is better than Kruger and Sheard, which is the sole reason he isn't rushing the passer.

It makes no sense to me, honestly, but there's the reason.

The reasoning is that he isn't a very good pass rusher.

I am not one to rant on refs... but Jordan Cameron was destroyed yesterday and got no calls. They didn't call them game fairly both ways IMO. At least for the better part of the first half.

Williams took snaps away from Gilbert, but really he's not in competition with Williams.

It's Skrine he needs to beat out. Williams plays the slot receiver, Gilbert is not a nickel guy at all.

If Gilbert wants to see more playing time, he needs to outplay Buster. After yesterday, that might not be far off...

At this rate, we might be better off putting a cardboard cutout of Revis out there.

With what the opponents get in retrospect when they do similar to us......I'll be p*ssed if Kirksey gets anymore than just a fine.

So the way to solve the problem is to see no punishment for anyone? If this had happened to one of our guys folks would be frothing at the mouth, wanting blood. I don't remember the Titans ever knocking our QB out like this, at least not recently enough that claiming retaliation makes it a-ok.
