Week 5: Browns @ Titans (1:00 P.M. CBS)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Tennessee scores another touchdown . there wasnt any reason not to play Manziel.

You have a first round pick qb and you play him when a game is out of reach.

let not forget Alex Smith was 6-2-1 as a starter when he got benched for Colin Kaepernick.

At some point Manziel is gonna take the reigns from Hoyer..A level head knows its just a matter of when

we get it, you want manziels hot white man juice all over your face.

just. stop.

Wow, what a game. I gotta admit; I was getting nervous once we were down 28-3. I was about to turn it off. Instead I grabbed another bowl of chili, chain smoked 2, and then the rest is history.

This team is resilient. Pettine is really getting through to these guys. Never quit. It's a 60 minute game. The pessimist in me wants to say "We're 4 plays away from being 0-4". The optimist says "We're 4 plays away from being 4-0". You know what? I'm okay with 2-2 right now.

I really love what the Browns did on the second half ... great stuff .... Having said that I would like to preface that we were facing a very weak Titans team who played for an entire half with their back up. We really need to get out SH!+ together cos i don't see other teams in our schedule being this bad or us getting this lucky with the penalties.

We Must improve. If this team can go out an challenge or beat the Steelers @ home then I believe that we have improved else it is just a mirage.

This team has shown more fight through four games than we have seen through four years.

I don't know if this team is capable of making an actual playoff push (I still think they're at least another year away), but these definitely are not the same old Browns.

They just need to gain some consistency. They can't continue to play for only sections of a game. Has to be a consistent, smart, 60 minute effort. They could be either 4-0 or 0-4 right now, so at least they've struck some middle ground at 2-2 with a big game coming up against Pittsburgh. Here's hoping they avenge that Week 1 loss.

EDIT: Also, can we stop with the whole "weak competition" talk for two reasons?

1. The Browns have been a bottom dweller for 15 years now. As far as weak teams go, they've pretty much written the book on how to suck consistently for the better part of two decades.
2. Weak team or not, they're (the Titans, in this case) still an NFL franchise. Any team is capable of winning any game in this league. A win is a win and it still shows up the same in that column, whether it's against them or an elite team.

The "King" knows what's up:

Forgot that he used to live in Cleveland and was a Browns fan.

Browns fans are coming out of the woodwork all over the place... sounded like there were more Browns fans at that game today than Titans fans.

My view is totally different. You defeat the teams you are supposed to defeat aka weaker teams and try to defeat the stronger teams. We may have been bottom dwellers but we have made significant additions on both sides of the ball and are a stronger team than the Titans. If we can not beat the teams that we are supposed to beat then how will we know what to improve on ? How will we identify our weaknesses and strength ?

In all fairness he did make a second video after the win :whogives:

Yep, huge Cleveland sports fan all around, actually.

To be fair, he's not really "coming out of the woodwork", he's never been shy about his love of the city or its teams.

Pardon my French, but that was fucking surreal. Just got done with the replay now (finally!) and literally cannot believe what I was watching. What's needed to be said has already been said in the last few pages so I won't reiterate those sentiments. I just want to re-post my thoughts from the first 2 weeks of the season below. You might not agree that this season's Browns team is different, but it's hard to argue that they haven't been heart-stoppingly entertaining to watch:

Just got done watching the full game replay (I know...). Here's how I look at it:

- Yes, it was a "Browns" kind of game with a "Browns" kind of result. I was entirely ready to cash in a refund for my NFL League Pass at half time. But the reality is, they showed real fight and real promise in the second half. I know we're all sick of moral victories but this felt like something a little more. Yes, they blew it in the last 60 seconds ("Once Browns football, always Browns football" - we know) and yes this could've been a blowout and the beginning of another embarrassing season. But they really showed heart and a great deal of pride to fight all the way back.

I thought the game would've swung in Pittsburgh's favor after that fake punt on 4th down but we still managed to look the better team and gave ourselves every opportunity to win.

Yes, it was a "Browns" kind of finish - mostly. Let's be realistic: we essentially had no right to win that game from the beginning. And the fact that we crawled our way back into it was a miracle in itself. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have won and am sick of "moral victories" as well, but something tells me it meant more than morality to this team last night. Something tells me it wasn't your typical "Browns" kind of game.

Only one way to find out, though: Let's see how they come out next week!

^^

I said that last week and I feel like today's game runs a mile in validating that. This isn't your typical Cleveland Browns - something is different. And it's exciting.

I'm just happy we've been competitive in each game so far. Although it's near impossible to figure out what Browns team we're getting on a per-half basis, at least we can now have some sort of faith when the "good" version of the Browns decides to turn up.

By my count they have beaten one team they were supposed to beat, they beat another team that is a consistent playoff team, and they lost two games in the last seconds to divisional foes that normally used to wipe the floor with them.

I used to have respect for some of the admins on this board but they seem more interested in bullying their opinions and insulting people who disagree with them

My first reaction is obviously, this is the internet, if you are consistently wrong for a solid year man up.

I fail to see where I insulted you, aside from making a bet about Hoyer which I won handily... I see that your opinions just haven't proven true. Good luck with defending bad positions, but I think the better choice is accepting the idea that Hoyer is better than you originally thought.
