Week 7 (10/25): Browns (2-4) @ Rams (2-3) [1:00 PM EST, CBS]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Without sarcasm, what are your honest thoughts on this staff? I get the players suck, but you can still try to evaluate how a coach is doing while factoring in he is coaching crappy players

I think Mike Pettine needs a veteran defensive coaching staff to implement the kind of attitude he needs. His inexperience as a head coach isn't helped by the fact he's got inexperience coordinators by his side to try and build this thing.

The biggest thing will always be talent, but I think you'll see a few veteran additions to the defensive staff this offseason. Would be surprised to see much of the defensive staff retained, honestly.

Pettine/Farmer arrived in town with mountains of cap room and 4 1st round picks over 2 years at their disposal.

This team is now worse than ever now.

With those type of resources it is inexcusable for the situation to be as bad as it is right now, and they have no one to blame but themselves.

Mike can tell himself they are "close" all he wants, but it just isn't true. He will never have a better head coaching opportunity in his career and he just squandered it.

Most unintentionally hilarious post that has ever been made in one of these threads.

They should start Manziel next week so he can get a game in before cinci

Coaches without a lot of talent always seem to struggle.

It's an anomaly Cleveland just can't figure out!

Ok this is a fair point.

But you can't deny we have taken a step back this year. I forgot that I said I would lay off of Pettine until the end of the season.

Anyways, it's just about JFF time. At least we can let him fail and close the door on that one.

I wonder if Haslam has seen what happened to the Dolphins once they eliminated the incompetence from their building.

Barring injury, it should never....ever...be JFF time.

Ever.

Losing bunches of games with a 36 year old at QB does nothing. If everyone thinks Manziel has nothing to offer, let's see Davis. McCown has been better than I expected, but it's not enough and he is going to get killed behind this line.

I actually agree with you. But I think the sooner we play him and let him fail, the sooner we can move on and get a real QB in here. Plus at least the games are entertaining with him in.

They can move on from him whenever they can, regardless of whether or not he plays again.

I'd venture to guess playing him will only hurt his value...maybe some team will give you a late round pick.

I gave Pett the benefit of the doubt but man that was bad. For those who think that coaching doesn't matter, go look at the work Jim Harbaugh has done in the NFL and in Michigan. Turnovers, dumb penalties you name it, it happened. There just seems to be a disconnect and the defense doesn't respect Jim O'Neil or his schemes/concepts.

Anyone find it telling that Farmer hasn't been present for weeks now? Why is Pettine answering questions about Manziel and other player issues? Isn't that the job of the GM? Kind of reminds me how Lombardi was treating towards the end of his tenure. Knowing how much of a hot head Jimmy Haslam is, wouldn't surprise me if Farmer didn't have a job Monday morning....
