WWE/NXT/AEW/NJPW Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Shout out to the Papi Niño. I've done a complete 180 on Dom. I thought he was the biggest nepo baby tagging with Rey and he had considerable go-away heat (with me at least) but Haitch has repackaged him to perfection. Leaning into Eddie, the whole prison storyline, and now he's delivering hilariously skeezy promos with confidence in the ring. He is carrying himself like a true pro and seems more and more confident each week.

Pretty impressive turnaround. I can't really think of many similar examples in wrestling as of late.
I understand why he does the 619... But he is too big for it and doesn't have the quickness Rey has to pull it off effortlessly. He needs to use that on special occasions and find another finisher.

Hard to believe they are using Brock at Wrestlemania against Omos but it’s official now.

Brock heard the rumors of him getting wrapped up in the Wyattverse with Bobby and asked Omos, "you think you could take an F5?"

House of Black vs The Elite (c) - AEW World Trios Championship

Back story
House of Black set their sights on The Elite and the Trios Championship a few weeks ago after a minor feud with Kingston and Ortiz. The Elite, fresh off their best of 7 victory over Death Triangle, have competed mostly against Top Flight and AR Fox over the past month.

The House of Black left The Elite laying with their belts this past Wednesday, but have had little to no physical interactions beyond that.

I’m going with House of Black in this one as AEW continues to establish a Trios division. A win here would be big for HoB, and it doesn’t hurt The Elite at all.

Match of the night candidate.

Prediction
House of Black

“Jungle” Jack Perry vs Christian Cage - No Holds Barred

Back story
This is the culmination of a nearly two-year long storyline between the two men (stretched out a few months due to Christian’s injury). It should be emotional, it should be physical, and once it’s over the feud should be as well. Time to move both men onto other things.

Prediction
“Jungle” Jack Perry

Orange Cassidy and Danhausen vs Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal vs The Acclaimed vs The Gunns (c) - AEW World Tag Team Championship

Back story
Sticking with Revolution tradition of having a multi-team tag match, OC/Danhausen and Jarrett/Lethal qualified for this match in both casino and traditional battle royals the past two Wednesdays.

The Acclaimed, as former champs, pushed their way into the match to make it a 4-way.

I think the Gunns retain here with shenanigans, but I’m interested to see what they do with some of these guys moving forward. I still believe FTR will be the ones to beat the Gunns when they return.

Prediction
The Gunns

Saraya vs Ruby Soho vs Jamie Hayter(c) - AEW Women's World Championship

Back story
Not super invested in this one. Saraya just isn’t interesting to me, but they’re doing some sort of Outsiders storyline with Saraya and Storm taking on some AEW originals.

I am mildly interested in how Ruby Soho fits into all of this as someone who could fit on either side of this as they move toward the first women’s Blood and Guts.

I’m most interested in Hayter (who is awesome), and her relationship with Britt Baker moving forward. Britt has been a good friend throughout her title reign so far, but it’s tough to imagine it continuing.

If they can find a way to weave these stories together, it could become far more interesting to me. Still, I think this match ends with a big middle finger to me and Saraya winning.

Prediction
Saraya

Wardlow vs Samoa Joe (c) - TNT Championship

Back story
Former allies, Joe turned on Wardlow because he felt that Wardlow was getting too big for his britches and no paying Joe the respect he was owed. Joe took the TNT Title from Wardlow at Full Gear before dropping it to Darby in Seattle. The title has since made its way back to Joe’s possessions as his reign as The King of Television has resumed.

Wardlow was away for a while after a beatdown and haircut courtesy of Joe. He has since revealed that his long hair was a tribute to his late father, and that Joe knew this.

I’m ready for a sirloin beef son's of bitches match, and while I’d love to see Joe’s reign continue, I see Wardlow getting his redemption and moving into a feud with Powerhouse Hobbs.

Prediction
Wardlow

Ricky Starks vs Chris Jericho - J.A.S. is banned from ringside

Back story
Starks and the JAS have been at it since January with Action Andretti being involved as well after picking up a stunning single win over Jericho. JAS is banned from ringside, which has me thinking Andretti might turn on Starks here to cost him the win, but my hope is that Starks gets his win, continuing Jericho’s spiral, and the JAS begins to come apart at the seams.

Prediction
Ricky Starks

Jon Moxley vs Hangman Page - Texas Deathmatch

Back story
Mox knocked Page out in a title match in Cincinnati prior to Full Gear. Page returned the favor in LA, but Moxley snuck out a victory after getting his ass beat in Dayton. These guys have really gone after each other throughout this feud with physicality and emotional promos. Mox and BCC have been showing some heel-like tendencies while Page has shown a dark side of himself as well.

I think Page come out on top in what could be a match of the year candidate.

Prediction
Hangman Page

Bryan Danielson vs MJF (c) - 60 minute Iron Man for the AEW World Championship

Back story
After winning the title at Full Gear with the help of Danielson’s mentor, William Regal, MJF ended Regal’s AEW tenure with a cheap shot to the back of his head.

Danielson went through a gauntlet of world-class opponents to earn this match while MJF has promised to send Danielson home to his kids for good.

I see MJF proving himself to the world by not only beating Danielson in a 60-minute IronMan match, but by doing it cleanly.

Prediction
MJF

Great write up! So stoked for this card top to bottom. I’m almost hoping the iron man match is first so the crowd isn’t wore out for it. If they do that, you could have trios or Mox/Hangman close.

With AEW wrestlers talking more and more about Brawl Out lately…I think there’s a 5% chance we see Trios end the night and the Elite lose due to CMFTR shenanigans. Probably not because I’m not sure Punk has it in him to mend fences, but it would be wild!

I’m honestly close to 50/50 on whether or not we have Punk back in AEW by the summer.

Too much mutual benefit to not make something work.

Disagreements in the workplace happen, and in athletics, sometimes they get a little physical. I think we might all be a little guilty of making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Personally, my respect for Punk went down not due to the brawl..but that press conference burying the company that gave him everything he always said he wanted from wrestling. But hey, if he can make amends with people in the back, a heel CM Punk return is damn good television.

I like a lot of this but I'd hate to see Hayter lose her title already, especially to Saraya who's looked pretty bad in ring. Would've much preferred a singles feud for her here and the 3-way does leave the door open for her to lose without taking a pin - there's a lot of directions it could go.

A finish with her getting screwed with some interference would advance the storyline but I just think they've missed compelling beats within the storyline to begin with and putting the belt on Saraya also puts the spotlight on her and I don't think she's ready for it. Still some rust to shake off. Hope Hayter wins that one.

Sounds like Jack vs Christian is Buried Alive match.

Their messaging on that one hasn’t exactly been clear.

AEW has been treading water lately, but Revolution could be just what they need to give themselves a jolt heading into the Spring.

Moxley is the biggest fucking goober in wrestling. Maybe in wrestling history.

You're talking about a guy who can actually wrestle at a reasonably high level and actually promo at a reasonably high level and at one time was the world champion and top babyface of the biggest wrestling company in the history of the business.

And this idiot would rather do light tube spots and fork spots and barbwire spots and cut his forehead open every goddamn week.

The guy is nothing more than an absolute fucking mark.
