WWE/NXT/AEW/NJPW Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The pillars thing hasn’t really worked for me, but I give AEW full credit for trying to elevate fresh blood into the main event scene at least.

If I had to watch another Moxley title match, I’ll would have probably ended up gigging my own forehead just to get it out of the way before Moxley did.

I know people love Moxley but I literally have not found him interesting at any point in his career. Renee has been more entertaining to me in the wrestling world.

Renee Dupree? Agreed

Different strokes for different folks, but I love Moxley. I also don’t want to see him in the world title picture anytime soon, but that’s mainly due to other talent needing that spotlight.

I loved him as the mouthpiece of the shield, but I didn’t see much of his run as Ambrose as a singles guy. Guy can put on a hell of a match, he connects with the crowd, and can cut a great promo in the ring or backstage. His in-ring promo after Brawl Out was a masterclass IMO. His recent feud and PPV match with Hangman felt like peak ECW to me. He’s a great unhinged heel and a great tweener face. He can also be counted on in the locker room.

Glad we can all agree that Renee is a gem though.

Yeah, I like that he enjoys doing all that ridiculous hardcore shit. I don't want to see that in every match, but it's nice that a handful of guys keep it going. A lot of his stuff reminds me of Attitude Era matches and that's fun since that was when I got into wrestling as a kid.

MJF is just tough to book against due to the fact he is just so much better than 90% of the roster on the mic. I'd argue that AEW's best build to a feud, especially in an emotional sense, was Punk vs. MJF. Someone that matched MJF's ability on the mic and possessed a pretty innate ability to flesh out emotional beats to build off of.

Every pillar is phenomenal in the ring - arguably top 15% work rate guys in the company. I hate how Sammy Guevara is packaged but I was damn glad I saw his ladder match with Cody in person because it was the best live match I've ever seen. All 4 pillars put on BANGERS - there is enough intrigue there alone by the fact it's a 4-way, and frankly, these guys all need the promo practice, Sting and Christian be damned. But I do worry that branching into a singles match is only going to hurt MJF's opponent. They stand no chance in the promo department and they're not going to take the belt off of him.

It's a good problem to have - one of your best talkers and in-ring guys should be your champion. I just feel there's a quicker drop-off in AEW in promo ability when compared to WWE due to it being emphasized as perhaps more important than your in-ring ability in the Fed. I do think intentional creative support for the greener TV performers, not just seeking a mentor for guidance, should be made a bigger priority. It often feels like Punk, Kingston, MJF, and Hangman are the emotional linchpin for the top card feuds. Better skills there across the roster just gives you a lot of flexibility in booking IMO.

Thank you for coming to my Fed Talk, brought to you by apparently the good kush. A little faded but I think I am making sense.

CM Punk was briefly backstage at Raw tonight (in Chicago) and apparently met with Triple H before being asked to leave by security.

I think the “met with Triple H” part is a little exaggerated.

I think they saw and perhaps acknowledged each other. But I don’t get the sense there was a conversation.

Do they mute the CM Punk chants when HHH announces his groundbreaking announcement that will shake the WWE foundation?

That new belt announcement came off like such a wet fart.

"Roman is so good, we've created a new World Title that is clearly inferior!"

I took it as more of the hard roster split is coming back and they don’t want Roman to lose a title so one brand needs its own. Raw has definitely needed a world title for a while.

That title will always feel like a secondary title. Don't care what it's called.

Love it.

Let Roman reign for another 5 years. Shit, at this point, break Sammartino's record.

I can't even name a Sammartino opponent. So I doubt people will care that much. Maybe that crazy turnbuckle eating George the Animal Steel.

But, I don't find entertainment in doing that with Roman just because I know he's not as good as other greats, and they build him to win dirty every single trip.

The new belt does look fire. The blue and red look shit in comparison.
