Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Last 28 Days OPS
- Reyes and Puig's numbers will include both Cleveland & their previous team
  1. Francisco Lindor - 1.005
  2. Jose Ramirez - .971
  3. Carlos Santana - .965
  4. Jordan Luplow - .905
  5. Jason Kipnis - .887
  6. Yasiel Puig - .755
  7. Tyler Naquin - .697
  8. Oscar Mercado - .654
  9. Franmil Reyes - .635
  10. Greg Allen - .622
  11. Kevin Plawecki - .616
  12. Roberto Perez - .540
  13. Mike Freeman - .374
Freeman and Plawecki's numbers don't mean much at all because they have like 10 ABs in the last month because of off-days and ASB rest.

However, we have way too many regular guys below .700 right now (Mercado, Naquin, Perez, Reyes). Those guys are in the lineup pretty much every day. Need them to round into form a bit because I don't think Kipnis is going to stay around .880 the rest of the season like he has been doing lately.

Weird to say, but I’m hoping Luplow comes back soon as well. He’d help us out a lot against the lefties we face.

Luplow is probably the 2nd biggest pleasant surprise to me behind Mercado. He has been a solid young at bat. I think he is a great utility outfielder that is a great guy to have on your team as platoon player and maybe even an everyday player soon.

Would also love to see him back but not sure how it happens barring injury or shrinking the bullpen by an arm .. seems like September

I'm having a hard time not seeing him back with the team at some point and it's gonna be electric when he does

I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a little wild in that first outing back even though it’s not on a big league mound. His adrenaline is going to be so high. I expect in September he will be seen back on that mound either as an opener or just coming in to fill in an inning. We all want him to be pitching well enough to close out a World Series game! Extra innings in game seven and he is asked to close it and we win it all!

Again, the reliever program is designed to get him ready for a 6th or 7th inning role when he returns.

Could be a really tough weapon

I think though he will get at least one opener role if he is able to get to the mound on the pro level. With Plesac hitting his inning limit here soon and being able to get extra arms in the bullpen, Francona is going to do a few more openers in September so I would put on money if he is able to come back this season, he will do an inning as an opener at home with like Plesac and L. Allen following him up.

If Carrasco is back in 90s with his velocity and his experience he truly could be a weapon for us down the stretch. We all want to see him back out there getting people out!

Do you think we will see Johnson, Karinchak this September? Any other non-40 man roster additions that we could see in September in your mind?

No, the plan is that he’ll be pitching out of the bullpen.

I don't think we'll see Johnson at all this year in Cleveland.

With Bauers knocking on the door, and Zimmer starting his rehab assignment in Akron on Tuesday, it'd be a really tight fit for Johnson (who has cooled off lately anyways).

Plus, the Indians basically have 47 guys on the 40-man right now. They're gonna have to add back Kluber, Carrasco, Luplow and Zimmer at some point relatively soon. Then there's guys like Cole, Otero, J. Rodriguez and Olson that they'll have to make decisions on. There's some obvious DFA candidates but we're probably gonna see a bit of a roster crunch soon. I think they'll want to keep 5/6 of those 8 mentioned above....

I know he will be out of the bullpen, but I feel if he does come back he will get at least one “opener” at home for morale and personal reasons. He will only be out for an inning or two. Just him being on the mound like that I think would mentally be a good thing for the team.

Good points. One nit - Luplow's on the 10-day so he's still on the 40 man.

I think this offseason we will see some shuffling of the roster. We really don’t have very many people to protect, but with option years on Otero and Kipnis then guys like Cole, Olson, Plutko etc, who have been okay talent but are out of options, I could see that end of the 40 man roster changing a lot, but most of the projected 25 man roster we have now staying intact.

What do you think of guys like Tom, Mathias, Jared Robinson, Cam Hill etc? Think any of them will be protected or will they all be subjected to possible Rule 5/free agency loss in the off season (aka outside of Johnson who ya think we could add to the 40 man roster right away?
