Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Some nice recognition from mlb.com

6. The Indians have one of the best rotations in baseball … without Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco and Trevor Bauer.
By ERA+, their starters (127) rank second only to those opener-employing Rays (128). By straight-up ERA (3.87), they rank fifth, behind only the Dodgers, Rays, Nationals and Astros. They are third in quality start percentage.
Point is, they’ve been good. Even though Kluber (broken right forearm and now left oblique strain) has made only seven starts (with a 5.80 ERA, no less), Carrasco has been out since early June because of leukemia treatment, and Bauer was traded on July 31 (in the midst of a season of steep regression from his 2018). The Tribe’s overall depth in this area, with Shane Bieber and Mike Clevinger stepping into ace-type roles and Zach Plesac and Aaron Civale among the best rookie starters in baseball, was underrated.

I am admittedly a casual Indians fan. I lurk here because it's a decent topic on RCF..

But I want to make two comments. If you want to welcome casual fans, don't flame them if they wander in and are surprised at who is playing, or where we are in the pennant race.. Three is no reason to do that.

The other comment is about some of the negative posters. IMHO, the organization should get kudos for a) believing in the team with Kluber injured and some of the lineup struggling and b) making a move that may put us into the playoffs this year, ( picking up Puig and Franmell) while making our future better.. We may or may not have the closer we need to actually make the playoffs, but we have the starters and the bats to make some noise, which is a lot more fun than watching other teams make a run

This organization is very well run. To basically
Change 4-5 starters on the fly during the season with your own minor league talent is incredible
The bauer trade sets us up with reyes and a top prospect in logan allen for years
Moving gomes was obviously the right move
Getting santana back and moving edwin was the right call
Getting mercado for nothing was great

Lindor situation will be interesting. Imo i do not want him on some ten year strangling contract. Then worry about him tearing a achilles or mcl. We cant take that risk

I would move him by the deadline next year for a boatload of major league ready prospects

Yeah he’s probably done for the year if it’s a hamate.

That thing just saps the power right out of you.

Matt Olson had the surgery at the beginning of this season and missed a hair over 6 weeks

6 weeks from now would put us in the middle of the ALDS

The yearly key injury strikes down the stretch. Gotta love it

4 years in a row losing one of our best players in August or September. Very cool

Trying to remember the key player we lost last season, but no one is coming to mind. Are you including Leonys Martin?

Yep, that really blows. Really need Franmil and Puig to step up to replace that production along with Kipnis staying right around where he is now.

Does Freeman or Chang get the majority of the 3B at-bats the rest of the way? Freeman has been really good, but I'm not sure about playing him everyday.
