Personally, I want posters not to drop f-bombs on other posters just for having a different opinion.
To expound upon the subject:
Trevor Bauer cared about his time here--a lot.
Trevor Bauer has repeatedly said how much he enjoyed Cleveland and how much his time here meant to him.
Even if you ignore every word that has ever come out of his mouth on the topic, the image of him standing there in the stands at Progressive Field after we traded him, just to see one more game in Cleveland, just to still be around the team, just to still be around baseball should say enough.
If, after all of that, you're going to attack the man for saying something he's supposed to say about his new environment, I will have a lowered opinion of you. That will not be because of your like/dislike of Bauer, but rather the actions you take due to that.
I have no problem with anyone having a different opinion on anything. I have a problem with piling onto a guy when he doesn't even say anything meant to be inflammatory. Bauer was asked about how he's liking Cinci. He complimented everything about their organization and said he's happier there--and I bet he's being honest. The threat of being traded? That ate at the guy. Immediately after saying that, he said how much he missed his teammates.
Then, afterwards, he issues a statement clarifying what he said.
To be clear, the “not a whole lot I miss about Cleveland” comment was directly related to the situation I had just mentioned. I will always hold my love for the city, the fans and most importantly the great people of Cleveland in a special place in my heart.
If you want to continue to hate the guy for being different from you, go for it. That's a close-minded way of going about life, but hey, that's your choice. But don't make up lines that are blatantly false.
When you say things like "he was chopping his finger off" you make it sound like an accident was an intentional decision.
The guy never said he was unhappy last year. So when you say he was "so unhappy" last year, you look less like a rational human being, and much more like someone who just has a bone to pick with a pitcher you don't like.
When you call one of the most open and honest professional athletes in the social media age a "phony" well, that's when you've gone off the deep end.
Disagree, dislike, whatever all you want. I'll never have a problem with that. I'm well aware Trevor has a personality that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. There are also obviously things he has done wrong in the past that he deserves to be criticized for. But don't misconstrue facts to paint someone in a bad light. There aren't any nice words to describe someone who stoops to that level.
