Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He'll always be one of my favorites.

I know comparing him to Maddux is blasphemy, but I'll always love the guys who aren't the best natural athletes, but are the smartest guys on the field. Hershiser fit the bill too.

Absolutely, I know what you mean. I love how open he was with his discussing his process. I eat that stuff up.

I am admittedly a casual Indians fan. I lurk here because it's a decent topic on RCF..

But I want to make two comments. If you want to welcome casual fans, don't flame them if they wander in and are surprised at who is playing, or where we are in the pennant race.. Three is no reason to do that.

This.

Cleveland seemed to go out of their way to be open to Bauer's techniques, empowered him to be a leader, and protected him when he did/said dumb stuff...so he loses me there. I'd also say if Bauer had issues in Arizona with coaches and now has apparent issues in Cleveland with coaches, maybe the coaches aren't the issue.

Not sure if it was Willis or not, but I know Trevor was discouraged in years past from trying to help other pitchers. Obviously he was able to work with Bieber and Clev, but I distinctively remember him saying he tried to work with Cody Allen when he was falling apart, and was denied.

Yeah, I'm not the biggest Trev fan in the world. Didn't mind him, thought him launching the ball was childish, but I never hated him like I hate a guy like Chris Perez.

He's not going to come out and say "Yeah, I'm not happier here in Cincy. This place blows." when asked the question. I'm sure he had a rather toxic exit given the way Tito talked about it after the fact, so I don't expect him to sugarcoat things or lie about it.

I believe that was Callaway. Bauer and Callaway did not get along well. From what I understand, although Mickey allowed Trevor to do his own thing for himself, he refused to let him work with the other pitchers.

Hershiser was a great pitcher and a good dude too. His was the first biography I read as a kid. :chuckle:

Ben Broussard will always be hated by me.....

He wasn't denied by the Indians in helping Allen. The quote:

“I could’ve fixed Cody Allen’s curveball in two days last year, but I couldn’t tell him anything because he’s a veteran and he doesn’t want to listen."

Piling on is a douche bag move. Honestly, fuck you for this shit.

What do you want him to say, that he's not happy on his current team? Bauer's saying the right thing and you're still shitting on him for it. What the hell do you want?

Personally, I want posters not to drop f-bombs on other posters just for having a different opinion.

To expound upon the subject:

Trevor Bauer cared about his time here--a lot.

Trevor Bauer has repeatedly said how much he enjoyed Cleveland and how much his time here meant to him.

Even if you ignore every word that has ever come out of his mouth on the topic, the image of him standing there in the stands at Progressive Field after we traded him, just to see one more game in Cleveland, just to still be around the team, just to still be around baseball should say enough.

If, after all of that, you're going to attack the man for saying something he's supposed to say about his new environment, I will have a lowered opinion of you. That will not be because of your like/dislike of Bauer, but rather the actions you take due to that.

I have no problem with anyone having a different opinion on anything. I have a problem with piling onto a guy when he doesn't even say anything meant to be inflammatory. Bauer was asked about how he's liking Cinci. He complimented everything about their organization and said he's happier there--and I bet he's being honest. The threat of being traded? That ate at the guy. Immediately after saying that, he said how much he missed his teammates.

Then, afterwards, he issues a statement clarifying what he said.

To be clear, the “not a whole lot I miss about Cleveland” comment was directly related to the situation I had just mentioned. I will always hold my love for the city, the fans and most importantly the great people of Cleveland in a special place in my heart.

If you want to continue to hate the guy for being different from you, go for it. That's a close-minded way of going about life, but hey, that's your choice. But don't make up lines that are blatantly false.

When you say things like "he was chopping his finger off" you make it sound like an accident was an intentional decision.

The guy never said he was unhappy last year. So when you say he was "so unhappy" last year, you look less like a rational human being, and much more like someone who just has a bone to pick with a pitcher you don't like.

When you call one of the most open and honest professional athletes in the social media age a "phony" well, that's when you've gone off the deep end.

Disagree, dislike, whatever all you want. I'll never have a problem with that. I'm well aware Trevor has a personality that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. There are also obviously things he has done wrong in the past that he deserves to be criticized for. But don't misconstrue facts to paint someone in a bad light. There aren't any nice words to describe someone who stoops to that level.

I don't want to speak for Q-Tip, but there's other ways to make this known without telling someone "fuck you" for having a different opinion on something..

No need to speak for anyone. You're correct.

I would like to know why multiple people are now calling @Real Deal 's diatribe a "different opinion." Other than stating Bauer is a "least liked Indian candidate" I didn't see an opinion in there.
