MLB - Trade Rumors and Speculation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So, a system can't be young/deep and be able to make a trade?

Why are those two things mutually exclusive?

You're not making any sense.

It can but trading away what few prospects we have in order to come in 3rd place in the Central division wouldn't be very smart.

I agree, but that's for concluding that I am right on both counts.

Santana & Lindor + what for Mike Stanton?

I am sick of Carlos..

You're an idiot.

Nobody wants to play in Cleveland, no matter how well respected their front office is.

I'm the idiot, but I'm simply saying what you always tell me?

am I way off base with the possibility of dangling Santana?

Probably for now, but I'm really unconvinced he will ever be anything more than what he is right now.

You're not convinced he will ever hit better than right now, where he's hitting roughly 125 OPS points less than he has for the last two seasons?

Is this anything more than just being openly negative to get attention? Like comparing a quote about how well the front office is respected to free agency?

I'm guessing not.

So, he has gotten worse each year he has been in the Major Leagues (only 150 ABs in his first season, but my point stands), and you're berating me for saying I'm not yet convinced he will be better than the average (below average, really) player that he is right now?

As for the other thing, you're always on about how well respected this organization is around MLB as if it somehow validates their strategy that has produced one winning season in 10 years. Yet for some reason, almost no notable players will allow themselves to get traded here. :chuckles: I guess I just thought if this team was so good at what they do, so well-run, and so well thought of around the league, they wouldn't be on everybody no-trade clause. *shrug*

How are you not getting this?

Being well respected means nothing to potential free agents, money does. Which would explain both the fact they have one winning season in 10 years (which is false by the way) and why nobody wants to play here.

With that said, during the Shapiro era, the Indians were well respected as a well above average department who were leaders in player development strategies.

The two aren't mutually exclusive...and I clearly would have been better off trying to talk to the wall then to have tried to explain it to you.

I thought we were talking trades, not free agents. But...I'd have been better off telling that to a brick wall than to you. :chuckles:

This team sucks. Sell, sell, sell.

I don't think they suck. I think they are horrendously average. Still, probably sell, and start another 4 year rebuild with the same results. Rinse, repeat. It's pretty sad when speculating about the Browns is actually more exciting to me than the Indians.

Again...and I can't believe you still haven't caught on yet...."Well respected" doesn't necessarily apply to players around the league, but the perception among other teams front offices and player development staffs. Whatever trickledown effect that has on players...I don't know.

But it's still Cleveland, and nobody wants to play in Cleveland....and that hasn't changed in 50 years, even through the 90s.

Rumor: they do nothing and talk up Grady/hafner
