Kyrie out 4 weeks with hairline fracture of left index finger

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Kyrie out 4 weeks with contused left index finger

This guy... o_O

@SamAmicoFSO
In 2009, Kobe Bryant broke index finger on shooting hand. Injury expected to take 6 weeks to heal. Kobe put on splint. Lakers won 5 straight

Hmmmm The Bullshit Whisperer. There is a HUGE difference in those 2 situations, but I can't quite put my finger on it.......

Re: Kyrie out 4 weeks with contused left index finger

fuck

tanking time

also both TT and Z are going to wear masks now. Might as well have the whole team do it :chuckles:

Might as well have the fans too, so we can be blinded by this shit.

Exactly. Cavs want to tank. Lakers wanted to win a championship.

Sam The Bullshit Whisperer is a fan of the anti-tank, so these comments aren't surprising coming from him.

Lol wow now were going to Bobcat levels to tank......the league won't reward us for this guys.

But you know...now it's Dions team and it'll be fun to see how he handles the pressure....now him and Boobie are options one and two

Re: Kyrie out 4 weeks with contused left index finger

I love these people that wanted the OKC model but didn't actually realize how absolutely horrible OKC was in it's 2nd year. News flash: OKC was freaking horrible in it's 2nd year of the rebuild (aka, Durant's second year). Welcome to the OKC model.

And in the 3rd year they won 50 games.

In the 4th year they were in the WCF.

I hope I am wrong, but I see no scenario in which this team wins 50 next year, or is a title contender the year after that.

To stick with the "that's how OKC did it" model we would have to make that kind of jump that quickly from where we are now.

We must be drafting Michael Fucking Jordan in his prime this year for us to take the 25-30 game jump in wins year 3 that the OKC model saw, because even healthy this team this year is bad.

Dude above didn't see OKC play in that second year. No one thought they'd be winning 50 the next year. And they didn't draft Michael Jordan. They drafted James Harden.

Kyrie...a.k.a. Mr. Glass.

dude is fragile and injury prone. this is going to be a problem his whole career. should've known with that foot problem he had in college. the red flags are flying now.

Totally. Shouldn't have drafted him. What a waste.

I haven't read any of the 100+ comments, other than Rich's a couple pages back which was hilarious...

but I'm going to assume people are overreacting about Kyrie. He's not injury prone lol. If our bench wasn't evidence enough, we're not playing for the playoffs this season. This just makes things a whole lot easier.

I don't believe in injury prone. Unless you're 7 foot and have bad knees (Bynum). I don't believe a person can have an "injury prone pinky finger" or what have you.

Honestly, the worst thing about this situation is that when Kyrie comes back we'll probably still have a better record than the Wizards.

Dude, it's not like we have to follow their model to the last letter. All we want to see is a year to year improvement. We took an active step back this year because our team got super young and we jettisoned most of our veterans. Next year we should see some substantial forward progress as our guys gain another year of experience and we add m ore talent through the draft and possibly free agency. I doubt we'll win fifty games, but the goal isn't to win fifty games. The goal is to add talent and get better.

And really, even though the record probably won't show it, I think we did get better this year. Our starting line-up is so much more entertaining to watch this year than it ever was last year. Our bench is godawful, but aside from Zeller and maybe one of Casspi/Miles, how many of those guys are actually in this team's future? They're placeholders.

Maybe he is fragile because he is just too young to play the NBA game and his bones are not mature enough to take a that much of a beating.

The negativity is just over-the-top in this thread. I certainly don't want to be the guy who tells people how they should react to bad news, but come on people. This team is bad with or without Kyrie. It sucks that we won't have the pleasure of watching arguably the best young player in the league for the next four weeks, but this is hardly freak-out worthy.

I'm not even referencing the "tank." Fact of the matter is, we don't have to "tank." With or without Kyrie, this is a bottom tier team in the league, which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone considering 4 of our top 6 players are rookies or second year guys, with only one spending more than two years in college... And one of our other top 6 players is just 25 (Gee).

It isn't that we have no talent (quite the contrary, actually). It isn't that we have no hope for the future (quite the contrary, actually). It is just that this team is too young to make a serious run at the postseason and even the most optimistic fans should have seen this coming. Teams THIS young do not compete for the playoffs.

And, yeah... it also sucks that Kyrie has had toe and hand issues the last few years, but that also isn't a huge deal.

I mean, would you rather be in the Cavs' position or that of someone like Atlanta, who is currently 5-4, might make a run at the 8th seed and will continue to be a middling franchise with no discernible identity?

We have our franchise player. We have maybe our scoring 2 of the future (jury is still out, but he has looked promising). We have athletic bigs with promise (Thompson/Zeller). We even have a relatively young defensive stopper who would be ideal off the bench for tough assignments on that end (Gee). And, we have the best center in the East so far this season as a guy we stick with or a piece we get a lot out of.

Enough with the woe is me stuff. Four weeks is nothing in the grand scheme. The franchise is in a good place right now regardless of this incredibly minor injury and an expectedly poor record.
