The negativity is just over-the-top in this thread. I certainly don't want to be the guy who tells people how they should react to bad news, but come on people. This team is bad with or without Kyrie. It sucks that we won't have the pleasure of watching arguably the best young player in the league for the next four weeks, but this is hardly freak-out worthy.
I'm not even referencing the "tank." Fact of the matter is, we don't have to "tank." With or without Kyrie, this is a bottom tier team in the league, which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone considering 4 of our top 6 players are rookies or second year guys, with only one spending more than two years in college... And one of our other top 6 players is just 25 (Gee).
It isn't that we have no talent (quite the contrary, actually). It isn't that we have no hope for the future (quite the contrary, actually). It is just that this team is too young to make a serious run at the postseason and even the most optimistic fans should have seen this coming. Teams THIS young do not compete for the playoffs.
And, yeah... it also sucks that Kyrie has had toe and hand issues the last few years, but that also isn't a huge deal.
I mean, would you rather be in the Cavs' position or that of someone like Atlanta, who is currently 5-4, might make a run at the 8th seed and will continue to be a middling franchise with no discernible identity?
We have our franchise player. We have maybe our scoring 2 of the future (jury is still out, but he has looked promising). We have athletic bigs with promise (Thompson/Zeller). We even have a relatively young defensive stopper who would be ideal off the bench for tough assignments on that end (Gee). And, we have the best center in the East so far this season as a guy we stick with or a piece we get a lot out of.
Enough with the woe is me stuff. Four weeks is nothing in the grand scheme. The franchise is in a good place right now regardless of this incredibly minor injury and an expectedly poor record.
