The Haywood deal is significantly more valuable than Wally's. Haywood doesn't have a cent guaranteed in his $10mil contract; that's something that hasn't been seen in awhile (if not ever) due to the unique amnesty situation.
Teams are salivating over this deal while Wally's contract was just another expiring.
I agree that Haywood's contract is valuable, but I don't know of any team salivating. The question is how valuable and what value another team is willing to give up for it? I hope I'm wrong, but why would a team who needs room to sign a star give up a star to do so, as some are speculating? Moreover, I think only OKC and Golden State are over the cap at this time other than the Cavs and I don't see these teams trading anything of value to the Cavs just to get below. The Cavs were desperate--more desperate than any team out there now--to clear cap to sign LeBron last year and gave up Zeller and a number one pick and that was deemed a lopsided trade in Boston's favor. Thus, I see maybe a role player off the bench, not an all star, and maybe a future pick. Many stars are signing with their team and Sacramento is clearing space without the Cavs help.
Of course, I'm waiting for Griffin to shock the world again...
