That is a someone you sign with the intention of giving a bunch of PT too and then moving them at the deadline for picks/youth

With all the cap room the Cavs have don't be surprised to hear a plethora of names linked to them this off-season

"The Kyrie Effect" More and more players will follow suit going forward, imo.

I know It Is about time! Even hearing Jamal Crawford wants to play here Is shocking, Hearing a FA wants to play here Is shocking In itself. However If wo do not take beal I think he Is in a Cavs uni at the start of the season.

I think it's important that the Cavs come away from free agency with a starting-caliber, veteran PF on a one-year deal. Tristan proved, at this point, that he isn't quite ready to be a starter. I like him as the first big off the bench bringing a boatload of energy when he checks in towards the end of the first quarter. He ate up worn down starters and second-line power forwards with his superior athleticism and effort. I want to see the game slow down for him so he can work on technique and decision-making and then re-assess his role later in the season or in 2013. The lockout-shortened season was the worst kind for a prospect like Thompson because he was so raw. Give him an actual offseason, training camp, etc. to develop and process and, in the meantime, sign a starter on a one-year showcase contract with the allure of playing time and crisp Kyrie Irving passes. If they don't contend in 2012, there's a small trade chip.

Antawn Jamison would be the ideal fit but it looks like he had resigned himself to leaving towards the end of last season. Carl Landry is a similar player to AJ. A more efficient but with less elasticity as a four. Similar rebounding numbers and not quite as sieve-like on defense. Kris Humphries would be another decent option. He may be looking for a long-term deal but, if all opportunities dry up in the free agent market, it could make for a nice fit on a one year. He's more of a classic Dale Davis type of power forward and won't stretch the defense like a Jamison or Landry. He's also The Hump. The best combination of fit and opportunity might be restricted free agent Darrell Arthur. Memphis is in pretty bad cap shape and they would be hamstrung in their ability to match any offer. Perhaps an NFL style poison pill one-year contract could snag him away. Arthur was just sort of coming into his own as a dynamic player before he suffered a season-ending injury last year. He is athletic, can stretch the court with a great mid-range game and plays adept defense. He's not the biggest power forward and he is coming off a major injury but he's still young and his ceiling is much higher than the other two options.

We're not contending this season, so there's no reason to relegate Thompson to the bench.

One year with not a lot of talent around him doesn't prove whether or not he's starting material. Give the kid a shot & have him control his role by his play.

I don't want him on the Cavaliers either. However, it is nice to see even decent free agents having interest in Cleveland.

We have a lot of money to spend, thus I'd expect every player from age 28-32 to say that they would play for Cleveland.

The all mighty dollar rules the NBA. Whether the Cavaliers spend that dollar is up to them. Personally, Jamal Crawford is worth about 3/4's of a MLE. That's about it.

I'm not a fan of the move either, but when you think about it, with the impending departure of Antawn, the Cavs really could use somebody who can put the ball in the hoop.

As far as making a run at Harden next season, I'd be all for it. I love his game and I'm sure he'd like an opportunity to start. Only issue is it would likely take a max contract and I'm sure he'll get other offers as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cavs made an offer, the only question is whether or not the "Kyrie effect" plus the young talent we get in this draft will be enough to convince him to come here.

I'd love to go to a game rocking an Andy wig and a Harden beard.

Im not sure what jamal crawford has to do with someone putting the ball in the hoop. Crawford is a bad signing.

I didn't say he would be a good one. But you clearly don't know who he is if you think he can't score. He's not efficient, but neither was Antawn. Personally I'd rather just let the youngens play, but I'd be surprised if Grant didn't look for some kind of vet to replace Antawn.
