Browns release defensive end Jayme Mitchell
Um, no, that's NOT true.
For one, he left because he wanted way more money than the Browns wanted to pay him. Also, he was not a very good fit at linebacker in a 4-3.
He's a pass rushing specialist in a 4-3/3-4, and we really don't need ANOTHER one of those.
@MikeKlis: Broncos meeting with Peyton Manning, offering $60 million over 5 years.

I really think the Browns will be more active once some of these deals and price tags that are going on start to go down. Some of these deals are incredible. Once some of the other free agents sit unclaimed and come down off of prices (set as precedents by some of the other ridiculous offers/signings), I think the Browns start to sign more players and add more depth.
Looks like Manning might go to Denver...

What can you say to Browns fans like myself to offer hope? I have lived through Red Right 88, The Drive, and the Fumble. BTW, Browns fans love your blue collar mentality.

It's easy. I don't believe in being haunted by the past. We have a great coaching staff and phenomenal management. Coach Holmgren is moving things in the right direction. You're seeing Tim's great drafts and all the great players we are accumulating. We will have a great nucleus of players. We will be really good for a long time.
Joe, Colt spent a lot of time on his back last year... what would help him (and the team) out the most this coming year in terms of protection?
Joe Thomas (3:22 PM)
I think the big thing that will help is giving him more weapons and places to get rid of the ball sooner. More weapons makes it easier to keep the defense off balance. There are quicker places to get the ball to so he's not taking those hits.
Also are we gonna vote for Joe on Madden after what happened with Hillis? What position do you think the browns need the most help with. Where could we possibly get that position, Free Agency, or the draft?
Joe Thomas (3:05 PM)
It seems like the strategy has been going through the draft which is a great strategy. We are going to focus on skill positions on offense. That seems to be what management has targeted for improvement.

The Bengals entered free agency with the league’s most salary cap space, but they haven’t acquired a single unrestricted free agent since the signing period began last Tuesday.
On Friday, the Bengals announced that they hosted cornerbacks Jason Allen and Tracy Porter, and defensive end Jamaal Anderson at team headquarters.
So far, we’ve counted those three players, defensive linemen Kendall Langford and Andre Fluellen, guard Jacob Bell, and cornerback Aaron Ross as free agents who’ve visited the Bengals. Next Monday, they will host running backs BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Michael Bush. Former Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman was also rumored to be visiting the Bengals, and tight end Kellen Davis had a Bengals visit scheduled before re-signing with Chicago.
That’s 11 guys. Zero signings.
Meanwhile, the Bengals have lost offensive linemen Mike McGlynn (Colts) and Nate Livings (Cowboys), while defensive linemen Frostee Rucker (Browns) and Jonathan Fanene (Patriots) have also moved on.
The Bengals are apparently trying to give off the impression that they’re being aggressive in free agency. But they’re not acquiring anyone, and they’re not even trying to keep their own.
Heard from a current Cleveland Brown that Steinbach is looking to restructure his deal and come back for less money. I hope we even try to restructure his deal instead of just letting him walk.
