2015 Cleveland Browns Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is a great point and something that is driving me mad. They are running TO blocks. AKA they are slowing up right before they get blocked. You have to run THROUGH blocks. I noticed this all game yesterday. Something new from Dansby. It looks like they are afraid of contact. Like you said, it is freakin HS level shit.

You watch the Giants game last night? The Giants defense has it's faults, but they showed how you run THROUGH blocks and not to them. Hyde had a few nice runs, but was met in the backfield majority of snaps.

I didn't watch the Giants play, but I do know they run a 4-3 alignment. In the 4-3, there is usually more attacking from defensive tackles and less gap control. In Pettine's 3-4, linemen or responsible for controlling the gap to make sure delayed runs and counters don't work. So far, the people who are supposed to attack aren't shedding the blocks, namely the inside and outside linebackers. It's really apples, and oranges comparing the two schemes, but a wiser defensive coordinator would be less predictable and call some plays where the linemen change responsibilities.

Agreed. From what I saw, we dialed up a run blitz like 3 times yesterday, and that worked quite well.

Defensively, I really don't think it's a lack of talent, but rather a general lack of scheme. We do nothing in terms of pre-snap movement. Can't count the number of times Ravens looked like they were dialing up a 0 Blitz but then sent 4 or 5. We don't have the talent to get to the Qb blitzing four straight up and down.

I think to save his job, Pett is going to have to part ways with O'Neil for someone like a Mike Nolan or Mike Smith at the end of the season. I know I would feel better having someone at DC who was selected based on a track record of success and not nepotism.

Kruger needs to time warp back to the days of Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He woulda been great thirty fucking years ago. Cut your fucking hair you cheesy cnt.

Dansby plays like a giant fluffy cat. I want to rub his belly and feed him tuna.

Kirksey plays like he is his Madden glitch and is really three inches tall.

Nasty Nate is still fucking scared of squirrel Master

Mingo is fast. Great. He tackles like a...well, I'm not sure he's ever tackled.

Robertson, I'm pretty sure, where's cement weighted shoes. He smells like a wet chicken too.

Basically all I want to say is Jimmah should off make these clowns trade spots with the truckstop handjob ladies. Useless, the lot of them.

The only thing silly is that statement.

We gave up 6 yards per carry yesterday. We are the last ranked defense in the NFL. Our defense is abysmal

Stop. You're being stubborn as hell. They lost two of their 3 games in the final minute and just won one in OT. So saying they're just as close to 4-1 as they are 1-4 isn't crazy.

Nowhere did I say the defense is good.

This is the NFL.

spreads aren't usually double digits. There's a reason for that. Every fanbase in the NFL talks about how they 'could be' a certain record. I saw on a Ravens board them saying they 'could be' 5-0. All of their games have come down to the last drive.

But it's like Parcells says 'you are what your record says'.

This team was never anywhere close to 4-1. This defense will keep us in contention for a top 5 pick.

We were an endzone pick, and an offsides from having our last three games go to overtime.

1. We were at midfield, it wasn't in the end zone, and it was an awful read by our QB
2. I'm not nor have I ever been a kicker, but a take I read (not sure how hot this take is) is that the offsides jump could have affected the kicker's follow through or something. I don't know. I also don't care. A dumb team committed a dumb penalty and lost.
3. I promise you every team in the NFL can play that game. The Ravens can legitamitely make a case that they should be 5-0. But they are 1-4 and anyone who has watched them pretty much agrees their defense is höt gärbäje. The Browns have played this game for years. We have been 'right there until the end' for years now. Bad teams find ways to lose games. Good teams find ways to pull them out.

But regardless I'm done arguing it, I have faith the Browns will prove me right over time, and if they don't I'm even happier. It's a win-win!

Didn't the refs admit that it wasn't offsides? Or was that something Williams was just spewing?

It is going to go down as Williams spewing because the NFL refused to corroborate that. All indication from hearing Pettine and Williams talk is that he actually wasn't offsides and the NFL told them as much. Don't know why they won't say that to the public.

Gonna disagree with part 3 a little. The Lions, 9ers and probably 2 or 3 other teams are nowhere close to 4-1/5-0.

20 or so teams can say "we're 3 plays from 4-1", and 5 or teams actually are good, while the bottom 5 or so just suck. Usually, the Browns are part of the bottom 5. Now, we've snuck into the bottom part of the medoicre middle 20. Yay, progress?!?

Why would Haden phrase it that way? is he a producer or something?

What a fucking weirdo.
