2015 Draft Prospects

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How many top flight guys have we taken since 1999?

I mean, when you keep going to has beens, backups, and guys taken in the third round and none of them work out, is it really that surprising? Couch and Quinn, I guess...but the latter dropped in the draft for a reason.
Weeden and Manziel, too. In all seriousness this is just depressing. Go Cavs!

I mean, Weeden? Did ANYBODY think he'd be good? :chuckle: And Manziel was just a wild card. None of these guys were trumpeted as the next big thing.

The problem is that by the time time it is our time to draft the highly touted ones are gone. So we cant get them - the problem with drafting lower is that we need to find the right guy and stick with him - another thing we dont do. Also without a solid O-Line only a flying QB can do well.

The Browns have the ammo to move up and get Mariota if they decide they want him. Several of the teams in contention for the top pick just took QBs. Jacksonville won't take a QB after just getting Bortles. Tampa just took Glennon, Oakland went Carr. These teams have bigger problems than QB right now, I could see them moving down for multiple firsts.

Hear this boys, we're in business!!

I don't see any reason whatsoever that Tampa wouldn't take a QB.

Mike Glennon wasn't even drafted by that regime, and he's proven to be quite awful.

Tennessee, New York, Washington and Tampa should all be in that market.

With that said, I'm not as over-the-moon for Mariota as others are. Not sure he's worth the inevitable price tag.

Just looking for some kind of hope to cling to. Oh well.

As you saw this year, when you get good quarterback play it's easily the biggest upgrade to this team bar none. It's the closest thing to a "quick fix." I'm sure we'll draft another offensive lineman, and a supposed pass rusher, and shit one or both of them may even turn into solid players. But it's hard to grasp that as some kind of hope. We get these 1st round picks and use them on corners, O-linemen, D-linemen/LBs every year and still blow.

I guess we're a little better this year, but partly due to the schedule.

At least we weren't talking draft until December.

Guys, we arent getting Mariota. We are never getting a QB.

...why spend multiple firsts on Mariota when you can get Cardale Jones later in the draft...

What if Winston drops to say the 3rd round, does the talent outshine the risk or do we have enough proven examples of stupid qb's not working out?

Winston isn't dropping out of the first half of the first round. More than likely a top 10 pick. Too much upside.

That's far from a lock, given how messed up he is mechanically. Maybe mentally, too.

Guess I should have posted "IMO" since nothing is "a lock" 4.5 months out from the draft. Thought it was implied, but apparently not.

Regardless, barring another run in with the law, he's not dropping to the 3rd round.

I'm just not that impressed by the QBs this year.

I like Mariota a lot but I'm not thinking he's some kind of can't miss QB prospect. At least not worth what it will take to move up.

Winston- I have major issues with his mechanics.

Then what?

Brett Hundley- Someone will take a risk on the helium but I'm not sure we are in a position to do that.

Bryce Petty- Maybe it is fair, maybe it isn't but Big 12 QBs have an absolute atrocious track record in the NFL. Seems to have decent tools.

Connor Cook- Solid but not spectacular type vibe about him. Might be biased into thinking about Hoyer with the MSU thing. I do like QBs who have played in cold weather though. Also not sure he comes out.

At least these guys match up in bowl games. Baylor/MSU and FSU/Oregon will be good scouting games. And UCLA/Kansas State should be a decent game too.

I don't know why, but I want Petty. Call it a QB mancrush or whatever. I don't want any of the other options.
