2015 Draft Prospects

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would like a guard with center experience to add to depth but agreed it doesn't need to be primary focus .

John Greco is/was that.

Ryan Seymour can really play, IMO.

He can be that depth next season, along with the Bowie kid on IR.

There are much bigger areas of focus for this team, IMO.

A developmental tackle prospect would be on my list before anything, with Joe Thomas getting on in age and Mitchell Schwartz a couple years away from free agency.

The biggest need, and I'm not going to include QB because of multiple reasons, is defensive line. The way the Bengals manhandled us yesterday was pathetic. They didn't give our linebackers even a chance.

Then after that, it's gotta be WR. I don't know what's wrong with Josh Gordon and what happened to the offense we saw where Hawkins was consistently getting wide open AND catching balls...but we need one, maybe two more play makers there. And a tight end.

I also wouldn't be opposed to drafting a workhorse RB or taking a flier on Gurley.

You literally took a passive-aggressive swipe at me earlier in this thread because I suggested this very thing....

I don't get the OT thing either, people have been trying to kick Schwartz to the curb for three years now.

8th amongst NFL RTs in pass protection this season.

Might be a weak link in the power running game, but I think that's manageable as he continues to grow and get better.

Still just 25.

I assumed you were referencing using a high pick on the offensive line, I'm talking about finding a late round development guy or UDFA.

You said offensive line was the team's second biggest priority.

It is. OL is, IMO, paramount to this offense getting anywhere. Developing a tackle/guard is extremely important. That doesn't mean you need a guy day 1, never even hinted at it. This has nothing to do with Johnny, either.

What, after DL/OLB/QB hits you as immediately more necessary? I think that losing concern for the OL would be the worst decision this FO can make at this time.

You have no back-up outside Painter and McQuistan on the line. Greco won't be here forever and Mitchell Schwartz isn't a world beater. I wouldn't be mad to see them get another guy for the sake of having viable guys. Yeah, you can find an OT or OG in free-agency and I'm not advocating taking one high again, but I'm not trying to have to see practice squad guys playing musical chairs on a week-to-week basis, either.

Yep. No need to pay attention or mention.

DL, OLB, WR, TE, QB all strike me as more important needs off the bat.

I'm just not sure how it makes sense to say it's the second biggest priority on the team but you're not in a rush for him to play.

They've got a steady five starters, possibly six if Seymour is as good as he's played the last two weeks.

So, WR and TE.

I stated DL/OLB to be a higher priority and QB stands alone in the priority line. I personally don't want to use anything higher than a 3rd rounder for a TE, but I'd say it's more immediate than OL. Still, not more important than OL. In my opinion, anyways.

Hence, the difference in our mindset.

I don't view OL as much of a priority through the first 4-5 rounds.

I look at our run game and the way our QBs get sacked/hurried/flustered and I cant help but think that we do need an OL.

They rank fifth in the NFL in pass blocking efficiency, according to the recently vanquished PFF.

Didn't see it in the game vs Cincy.

I did, though I saw a tentative Manziel that held on to the ball to long and that resulted in the defensive line able to get to him.

Can't block all day for the kid.

Something interesting to take away from Sunday:

When Manziel got rid of the ball in 2.5 seconds or less, he was 7-for-8

When Manziel took 2.5 seconds or more to get rid of the ball, he was 3-for-10

I'd post the stats from PFF, but the coffin has already been nailed.

True - No Oline can block for ever but there was a lot of people just rushing though our O-Line- It was nothing like the game vs Colts.
