We're never getting one, I've already come to grips with itI'm down with that, but I still want a QB.

Agree with you that McQuistan is not a viable backup. Haven't seen enough of Painter to provide an opinion, but if the coaches have him behind McQuistan on the depth chart, he needs to go.^ It's not necessarily looking to replace one person.. It's just that you have no practical depth on the line where you need guys who can work within the ZBS. Vinson Painter and Paul McQuistan being the back-ups is shabby.
The Browns have 10 picks going into this draft. Clearly, some will be traded to move up, down, into next year, etc. That said, I think it's stupid to not think one of those picks can go towards reinforcing the strength on the offensive line.. To say the Browns need not address it is not wise, IMO.
Good point, @Holden beach on Bowie.

The lack of any type of running game is directly tied to the injury to Alex Mack. Hopefully he comes back with no issues next year, but if he doesn't, or gets injured again, we will be in the same place we are now. A backup center, or a guard that also has center experience, should be a high priority.
I also should have stated in my previous post that Michael Bowie will be competition with Mitchell Schwartz at RT in next year's training camp. All starting positions are earned in practice.
With the suffering run game after Mack's injury, I'm a little surprised they're trotting Hoyer back out there on Sunday. If nothing else, Manziel loosens up the inside run game because of the threat of him keeping the ball and getting on the boundary.
The Browns actually have a legit, built-in excuse to start Manziel, but have still decided to ride with Hoyer. It's tough to discern if they're just not being smart, or they think Manziel is that far away from being ready. I mean Pettine could've got on the mic yesterday and said "with the loss of Mack our run game has suffered and we just need the legs of Johnny right now. Hoyer is still in our plans but short-term, we feel Johnny gives us the best chance to move the football because he can help us in the run game".
I'm not sure they could sell going to Manziel "short term," I think we all know what the fallout of benching him after making him the starter would be.
You go to the young guy because you think he's the future and is ready to take over full-time.
Devin Funchess is declaring for the draft, officially.
Anyone have any thoughts on him? I haven't seen any Michigan games at all this year.

Doesn't block, probably not quick enough to be a WR full time.
Red zone weapon, but a role player for me.
see: Jeffery, Alshon
He blocks, not great at it, but he attempts to at least. Noone really worked with him on blocking. I do believe he's fast enough to be a #2, if paired up in the right receiving core. He played hurt most of the year, so one would hope his regression was due to that and a combination of Hoke's "Mike Brown" player development. I would honestly be surprised if he didn't run a 4.55 at the combine. I would in all seriousness take a flyer on Funchess in the late 1st.Tweener
