2016 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think I have to disagree. Assuming he makes the leap (right away) into a front office personnel role, where else would he go? The good teams don't have openings. Also, one would assume that Irsay burned his bridge in Indy. It's a known fact that Manning and Haslam are buddies and it presents an entirely new challenge for Peyton to construct a team from the ground up.

Not to mention we may have the #1 pick providing some added incentive.

Jordan never played for the Bobcats, but guys like him are going to write a ticket to anywhere where he wants.

What does "good teams don't have openings" even mean?

Someone is going to make up a position to get him in there.

Don't think he's typecast into a GM role or personnel role.

I agree, as long as Irsay is there I can't see Manning working for the Colts.

I can see him taking on the same role with the Titans. I wouldn't say that front office is on stable ground.

The Saints are another option as there may be a total wipe out of that organization this year. Keep in mind he's from New Orleans.

Hopefully that would mean Jimmy transfers his ownership to the Titans and gets the fuck out of Cleveland....

Anyone else get that "Baker Mayfield" feeling?

Help us all....

Who still argues that 2nd win of the season was more valuable to building a team than flat-out tanking to actually secure the #1 pick in the draft?
There will never be a time in life when beating the ravens or steelers is anything but a great day. I might hate those teams more than I love the Browns. I know it is bad for the long term, but I had the biggest shit eating grin on all of Monday when I wore my Browns polo into work when half of my floor is Ravens fans. Funny how quick they are to pull down banners/stop wearing shirts in their one losing season in forever. Those front runners don't deserve any of what the fortune they have had, and I hope we beat them again Monday night.

Don't get me started on the Steelers...

I'm not an expert tanker. I just can't root for loses against those two teams

I have to agree with Keys and Boobie, regarding the whole Peyton situation.

I think there are a lot of people overvaluing his friendship with Haslam.

You are undervaluing the power of a BFF

I hear Cowher has a house in Strongsville.

I feel like every mention of Peyton Manning as GM really shows "I don't know much about NFL front offices, so I'm going to drop a name with a lot of sizzle."

I don't know if Manning wants to run an organization in which he has no connection, and I don't know if he would be able to fill all the expectations. He would need a strong Director of Player Personnel helping him.

The whole reason this "rumor" began is because of Manning's connection with Haslam. Now, I think it'd be more logical to think they'd work together to make Tennessee better, but to say there's no connection isn't really true.

Good news there is that if the Browns get passed by San Diego, Tennessee or Baltimore -- they could still end up with the top QB (assuming Rivers doesn't retire).

Detroit and San Francisco are the two teams to worry about.

Like others have stated, they could always end up trading up. Although the Browns biggest concern is the Browns themselves and sticking with Johnny next year.

Still have to worry about trade-ups.

SB NATION - (Updated 11/24): (I put in other names of people we were tied to and where they went)

1. Cleveland Browns -- Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis
The Browns have committed to playing Johnny Manziel the rest of this season, so they'll finally get a true gauge on whether the 22nd overall pick in 2014 is worth a long-term investment. If the Browns are picking No. 1 next year, Manziel's play may not matter if a new general manager and head coach are making the pick for Cleveland. The discussion between Lynch and Goff will be a long one this offseason, assuming both decide to go pro. The lean is Lynch being the first quarterback picked because of his superior natural skill set. Both are good.

3. Tennessee Titans -- Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
With quarterback Marcus Mariota and left tackle Taylor Lewan, the Titans have some good, young building blocks on offense. The defense needs an upgrade, and Bosa is the best player in the draft. Earlier this week he all but announced he's going pro after the season. He should be the top player on many draft boards.

6. San Francisco 49ers -- Jared Goff, QB, Cal
The Colin Kaepernick experiment seems to have run its course. After all, he was benched for Blaine Gabbert. Goff, who is from Marin County, Calif., is about as local of a pick as the 49ers could make. He's about as necessary of one, as well. The physical parts of Goff's game are still a work in progress, but mentally he's ready for the NFL.

11. St. Louis Rams -- Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State
When you don’t have a franchise quarterback, you have to search for one, even if it means reaching a little. That’s the case with Cook. He’d be a better value in the 20s, but the other quarterbacks in next year’s draft after Cook are huge gambles.

12. Washington -- Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
Washington needs some pieces on defense, but a talent like Treadwell is too much to pass up. Pierre Garcon has one season left on his contract after this year, and really isn’t a true No. 1 like Treadwell could be.

23. Indianapolis Colts -- Jordan Jenkins, OLB, Georgia
With Robert Mathis’ storied career winding down and little else in the way of a pass rush in Indianapolis, the Colts could target a rush linebacker in the first round. Jenkins comes out of a 3-4 at Georgia and should be able to contribute early in his career.

25. Atlanta Falcons -- Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio State
This is a fringe luxury choice, but Thomas’ value is too great to pass up with the 25th pick. He’s the draft’s second-best wide out who can get physical with defensive backs and will go up and get the ball.

27. Minnesota Vikings -- Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
Although Stefan Diggs has been a breakout player for the Vikings this season, he doesn’t have the ceiling of Doctson. A big-play threat, Doctson would fully open up the passing game for Minnesota.

28. Cincinnati Bengals -- Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor
Beyond A.J. Green, the Bengals have an average receiver group with a lot of impending free agents. The explosive Coleman can play the slot or outside and be a factor on special teams.

31. Carolina Panthers -- Tyler Boyd, WR, Pittsburgh
Carolina is getting by this season with the likes of Ted Ginn and Jerricho Cotchery at wide receiver. Boyd is a steady wide out who will go over the field and get up the field.

---------------------------------------------------

Those WR's flying off that board in #1 kills me. I know it's a mock, but just saying. Would love to get one of the top 5 WR's in this draft.

Yahoo has a draft up and its another one that doesn't have the Browns picking a qb in the first round

2. Cleveland Browns — Ohio State DE Joey Bosa
Yes, they need a quarterback (scroll down for that). But passing on a physical presence such as Bosa considering the Browns have the worst rush defense in the NFL, rank near the bottom of the league in sack percentage and have flushed away first-round picks like no other team of late. Bosa isn’t a guaranteed star, but he’s a Justin Smith clone who — if the Browns passed — likely would end up on a division rival’s roster, such as that of the Ravens, and torment them for years.

34. Browns — North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz

Here’s your quarterback, Browns fans! It might not be ideal, but Wentz has grown on observers and can boost his stock with a strong Senior Bowl week.

The top qbs are going to...

5. San Francisco 49ers — Cal QB Jared Goff

It’s more likely than not that the 49ers move on from Colin Kaepernick in the offseason and switch gears again at quarterback. Blaine Gabbert might have shown enough to be the perfect bridge starter, and it would allow the rebuilding 49ers, who have myriad needs, to draft a developmental prospect such as Goff, who is not instant coffee.

9. Philadelphia Eagles — Memphis QB Paxton Lynch

Few teams have less inspiring options at quarterback than the Eagles, who trusted that Chip Kelly’s system could compensate for a lack of talent. That hasn’t worked out as planned. Sam Bradford (if he’s back) and Mark Sanchez could buoy the team while the intriguing Lynch develops pocket feel and absorbs an NFL playbook. Suppose the only question left … will Kelly be back?

23. Houston Texans — Michigan State QB Connor Cook

Cook could end up going higher than this if he builds his stock back up, but right now there is limited buzz around him. The Texans have passed on too many quarterbacks in recent seasons and have one of the least promising situations there in the NFL. Bill O’Brien can work with Cook, who has decent physical measurements but is too inconsistent and scattershot for some scouts’ liking.

I just want them to take Goff and be done with it..

Listen, I love Carson Wentz.

I really do.

You take Goff.
