I just can't wait until winter meetings come, curious to see what goes down and what name comes up.
I must say, Schwarber is some kind of talent and I would deal Cookie for him still. But then you have to buy a good pitcher to make it a nice 2 for 1 kind of deal.
With Dolan approaching 85, I'm guessing a healthy 85, but how much time does he really have here to see a championship? Or is it even about winning championship(s) anymore, more so just running a well managed business?
The team finally has a nice future set in stone and still adding young pieces. I just hope we don't see Brantley, Kipnis getting the Victor Martinez like treatment. I want to see these guys win here.
Paul is only like mid 50s, so this team is kind of in a legacy ownership spot.
Bauer strikes me as a guy that has all of the tools to be great, but his mental capabilities won't allow him to realize his full potential.
If he can have a strong finish to the season, I'd love to try to package him with Santana for a legitimate player.
Billy Ho its good to see ya!!Don't think we could get a legitimate bat for both of them, to be honest. The price for a bat is really steep. Shit, Brandon Moss landed us Kaminsky. Realistically, I think we can get a hitting version of Trevor Bauer. Something like a Bauer-Ozuna swap seems like an obvious fit for both teams. To get a "legitimate" bat, though, I think that'd undoubtedly cost us a Carrasco or top prospect(s).
This. But we can't really complain about that because that is the exact reason we got him on the cheap from AZ. Remember Bauer was one of the top prospects in baseball and we gave up less than a year of Choo for him. Because AZ was so frustrated with his unorthodox style and quirky stunts.Bauer strikes me as a guy that has all of the tools to be great, but his mental capabilities won't allow him to realize his full potential.

If we trade Carrasco then bringing in a very capable pitcher via free agency is mandatory. Their are some great pitchers available. Just gotta spend some dough. He likely has little value on the trade market - but your point is also why I'm against trading a starting pitcher.
If they trade Carrasco and suffer even 1 injury, the rotation is suddenly a disaster. There's not a lot of help in the upper levels - so unless you have a lot of faith in Tomlin, Anderson, House - trading a SP is really dangerous. Especially because I'm not convinced that getting a Puig-type player suddenly turns us into the Blue Jays' offense.

Schwarber + a free agent pitcher at least in top 7 class will make me forget about Cookie.
