2016 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This. But we can't really complain about that because that is the exact reason we got him on the cheap from AZ. Remember Bauer was one of the top prospects in baseball and we gave up less than a year of Choo for him. Because AZ was so frustrated with his unorthodox style and quirky stunts.

Bauer is immature. Proof is his flame wars with trolls on twitter. He needs to ditch his voodoo BS and maximum likelihood estimators of the value of risk of each pitch and actually listen to the coaches. They are coaches for a reason. But then again, we would have never gotten him if it weren't for his quirks. Just hope he starts to take outside advice.

There have been numerous articles about the Indians coaching staff and front office allowing and encouraging Bauer to be his quirky self and have even adapted numerous of his ideas in the organizational-wide pitching development program.

Yes, he's immature and stubborn, and that's the root of his issues, but he's a scientific genius and his training techniques have kinda revolutionized how the Indians develop their pitchers.

Shit, a little visit to the Texas Baseball Ranch is how the Indians found out about Kazmir and his training there revived his career. I'm all about unconventional training.....

Carlos Carrasco is not to be traded. He is 28 but didn't figure it all out until he was 27, had been demoted to the bullpen and was a bad outing or two from being DFAed. He had a career ERA of around 5 before last year in 220 innings spread over 4 years. He also had a reputation in the minors of being a head hunter, stubborn, immature, and losing his composure once he started to give up hits. It is why he was even available in the Bag of Misfit Prospects the Tribe got for Cliff Lee.

On the flip side, you have Trevor Bauer. 24 years old, he has already recovered from an early career bout of excessive wildness but is currently struggling with getting smacked around. His problem is now a crazy propensity for allowing the long ball. He had issues early on with being stubborn, but those issues were in AZ with an old school org that did not draft him (DiPoto drafted him, Towers took over afterwards) and was part of the problem.

Lol. I find it funny that Carrasco is the guy that can't be dealt but Bauer needs to be jettisoned because his Twitter feuds will prevent him from curing his high strike issues. The team was crazy patient with Carrasco and it paid off. I see no more reason to give up on Bauer just because of a bad long ball season.

Would be very interesting to see what happens within the Tribe Front Office if that were to happen.

Promote Antonetti to President and Chernoff to GM?

Keep in mind that Alex Anthopolous' contract is expiring for the Jays. I wonder if Shapiro could bring Antonetti along to Toronto as his GM. Think that would leave us SOL when it comes to Francona.

Would be a huge shakeup on a number of levels. Business, player development split, potential managerial change.

Would get really interesting in a hurry.

Ken has incredible sources, he wouldn't write it to make it up.

Hammy says where there's smoke, there's fire.

so basically the indians are about to become a clusterfuck....

John Farrell might be out in Boston with a new President and GM. Might want to move back into the front office?

This would certainly sadden me, but I understand. He could have moved on for greener pastures for over a decade but didn't. I'm not sure what the tribes answer would be but I doubt a huge shake up. Then again this would be an opportunity for Paul Dolan to put his stamp on this team, so who knows.

Pretty sure he still lives in Cleveland...actually not a bad idea, he has some front office experience...just the health issues right now really cloud that...would be a way to keep Tito around if Shapiro and CA leave too, which I would love.

It could lead to a major shake up but it could just lead to someone like Chernoff, whose pretty highly regarded around the league, being bumped up to GM and someone like Dan O'Dowd being brought back as President. I don't think they'll stray too far from the tree....
