2018-2019 Tank Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would put Clarkson in the sl just to get him away from Sexton, move Hood to the 2nd unit. Cedi's minutes will only be reduced if he plays like he did in game 3 as opposed to games 1 & 2.

Clarkson just causes so many problems with this current roster. I would seriously think about just benching him completely.

I could live with Hood as a starter and just reduce his minutes until he starts knocking down 3s and goes back to his usual attempts/makes from 3.

The second unit needs to be designed around Sexton until he is ready to take over the starting PG position. Give him a big man that can finish in Nance or Zizic, then surround him with 3 point shooters so he can develop his passing and have space to go to the rim. The current second unit is just asking teams to pack the paint. All he is currently doing is getting blocked at the rim and taking mid-range shots.

What are you talking about? I didn’t say anything about Lue, and I’m certainly not a Lue defender. I think you missed the point of my post:
Clarkson and Hood suck.

I know I'm saying if the vets get more minutes, it won't be from Hood and Cla4kson losing minutes, it will come from the likes of Colin, Cedi, and Ante losing minutes.

The only real new info in it is that Nwaba will dress going forward. I hope that doesn't mean Zizic will be in street clothes. Hopefully Koby and Lue decided to give up on Dekker as a compromise.
Thats all Lue bringing JR, Korver and Frye back to game action. Younger players minutes will be cut,,this organization seems dysfunctional. No clear plan.
Altman wants the young guys to play,,Lue is going to go with the vets.
They should buy out JR and get him out of here,,trade Korver for a couple second rounders and Frye can sit on the bench for the year. They have to play all the young guys at this point, nothing else makes any sense. The team is going to suck either way.

Sexton has played 3 nba games and he's shown flashes in at least 2 of the 3... let's just pump the brakes a little in terms of evaluating his potential

Well, to be fair to @TyGuy to project a guy drafted 8th to not be a star, than to be a star.

Is far more realistic, given the odds of selecting an all-star outside the 5th round are actually really low.

I just don't know how its fair for many people, to come out with outlandish expectations with Sexton right away. Calling him a future all-star, comparing him to future HOF players even. THAT'S OKAY.

But its not okay, for Ty to not drink the cool-aid on those high expectations, and actually just probably provide what might be a more realistic mindset of Sexton.

Honestly, it happens too often on this board. We bring a new guy in, and people expect the moon and the stars out of them, because they're excited about the new young toy added to the team.

Honestly, we'd be lucky and should take it if his career projects to be Mike Conley.

I'm all for the young guys playing but at the same time you can't put out lineups that aren't modern NBA lineups just to get young guys out there. With how the roster is made up currently, most the young guys aren't good 3 point shooters.

I think we are hindering Sexton's development by throwing him out there with the current 2nd unit lineup. Some decision have to be made to either bring guys along with fewer minutes or sit others completely for the betterment of guys like Sexton and Cedi.

Personally I wouldn't even dress Dekker. We gave up nothing to get him and unless he makes strides in practice, I don't see much future in him. I would sit Clarkson so Sexton has full control of the ball with the second unit. I would still start Hood but cut his minutes until he regains his confidence to take 3s.

I always thought it was going to be a progression at the start of the season from vets to the young guys getting playing time. Move the young guys up in steps and maximum trade value on the vets.

This bears repeating..Cavs don't have to purposely tank..I know I wait till around 20 games to see a trend, but these 3 games so far don't look good.
I know it can change to a degree, but I have that feeling it's not going to be easy to watch.

Without some kind of big personnel change this year, I think they're going to have a hard time winning even 25 games.

You might think we should beat Brooklyn tonight, but I doubt it. What some people don't understand is that this team is much worse than the sum of it's parts.

Losing to teams like ATL and BK (potentially) seem like the kinds of losses that should get Gilberts wheels turning about shipping Lue the hell out of here . . .

Korver, JR and Frye won't stop the Cavs from getting their ass kicked. THEY PLAY NO FUCKING DEFENSE.

It makes no sense to me to hinder the young players to compete for the 8th seed. Not sure why they didn't give the keys to Sexton along with Cedi and Love. Fuck is the point in playing him 20 minutes a game with a fucking CHUCK-ER in CLARKSON? He stands in the corner and barely gets involved until the second half.

I still don't understand why Zizic isn't getting 25 minutes a game.

TT/LOVE
ZIZ/NANCE

Dekker is shit! He ain't the fucking future here.

I hope Dan does go postal and trade all these fuckers outta here for picks. He won't be able to stomach the defense and losing long.

I'd be shocked if we beat Brooklyn.

I think we'll probably win. Lue will play the vets, who are well-rested and likely will come out with an energy level that they cannot possibly sustain over an entire season. But I suspect they'll get the win.

We'll then go through a period of "wow, with those vets plus Cedi and Sexton, we might actually have something!" before it all comes crashing back to earth in a couple of weeks.
