2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I always said that it would have been better for the Cavs to win it in 2015 and then the Warriors coming back in 2016 and winning it, finishing a incredible season. The injuries and then collapse led to todays mess.

Jesus, this shit again. What injury are you referring to? The one that took out a guy averaging about 10 minutes playing time per game for 2 of the 7 games in Bogut? Or the one where an All-Star played all 7 games and averaged 23/5/5 in Curry? When I think of injury issues, I picture All-Stars missing basically entire series, like Kyrie and Kevin in 2015 or Kawhi in 2017, or All-Stars missing crucial games, like Chris Paul this year up 3-2 and missing Games 6 and 7. All 3 GS titles were helped by major injuries to major players. I'm sure these teams would have loved for their All-Stars to be so "injured" that they could play every game and average 23/5/5, instead of the 0/0/0 they put up sitting on the bench injured. And PS...before you talk about Draymond missing 1 game out of 7, GS was only 3-3 in the 6 games he played, meaning the Cavs were just as likely to win when he played as the Warriors were. And he did play games 6 and 7 up 3-2, unlike Paul who missed those games.

Not saying he's Cedi obviously, but would make sense to offer him a contract similar to what we gave Cedi last summer. Could quickly become a positive-value asset on a deal like that.

Signing with the bucks. Damn

I think GS was pretty fun to watch during the 2014/15 & 2015/16 seasons. A fatally flawed juggernaut with super uptempo offense and a penchant for giving up, getting back big leads.

It was the KD NBA cheat code thing that made them unbearable.

Also: I loved AK, he was about 5-8 years ahead of his time, imo.
its hard to believe that is the same franchise as the one today

Meh, they had largely the same unlikeabilities, if not in degree.

They were always Silicon Valley's team, and not in a good way, in a way that the other teams in the region are not; Raider Nation for instance is essentially the Browns Backers in its blue-collarness, and the 49ers always had a national appeal outside the Bay, i.e. they are essentially Utah's and Nevada's team due to Steve Young, and have had a connection to Youngstown.

They should never have been considered "lovable losers" for "having 40 bad years," years which included many playoff appearances including the big 2007 upset, and had 3 championships before that.

It's absurd that if you look on rgm and such that they are white-knighting Seattle, a town that should be their biggest rival, because Durant "got revenge on Clay Bennett," because technically they are no less of a "stolen" team than OKC.

so are we gonna sign more players or are we done until the season begins?

Besides re-signing Hood and Nance jr (which they both deserve to be)..probably not, but the remaining free agents I'd like to sign are:

Greg Monroe, C

Is giving Nance 10 mil+ AAV extension premature? It depends on what you think 9 and 7 on 22 MPG is worth. I know 10 mil isn’t what it used to be and Nance is a real one who wants to be here. But he’s also a tweener who can’t shoot (yet), is prone to foul trouble, carries some redundancy with TT on the roster. this potential move would be more about the future than the present roster, I get it. I just think another year of data is needed before we bet on LNJ becoming the player we think he should be. We also aren’t really sure what we have with Zizic yet. Unless of course, you think he’s worth 4/40 today.

I’d give LNJ more playing time, along with Zizic, and see what the year bears out. He May ball out and increase his asking price but what’s more likely is he remains the bench big he is and we get a fair deal.

I was thinking the same thing. Giving Nance an extension hurts our flexibility next summer. He will be a restricted free agent and unless he come out shooting 35+% from 3 while playing 30 minutes in 70+ game, I'm not sure why we would be worry about a big offer sheet. I have a hard time seeing him getting more than the MLE.

I would rather have the flexibility to go sign a couple free agents and work out a deal with Nance for the MLE. Basically renounce his QO, sign free agents, and resign Nance with MLE. Have everything lined up so when we renounce his QO and he resigns almost immediately.

Don't understand the hurry to sign a player to an extension when he is due to come a RFA, unless you can get him for cheap beforehand...and that doesn't seem to be the case.

Yeah the only thinking is if we get him on a cheap deal. Where Nance stands right now, we would be paying him on potential. If he doesn't grow as a player, he quickly falls into the same category alot of PFs who have washed out of the league have. Without a 3 point shot and the durability to play center full time, he becomes hard to play and pay.

Unless we are paying him like a 4th big in our rotation, I would hold off on an extension. Especially with Love's extension, how can we say Nance is our starting PF of the future if Love is locked up for 5 years.
