2021 Indians Active Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Somehow Bobby Bradley gives me flashbacks to Jesus Aguilar. I remember watching videos of him on the old IBI site. He was as big as a moose. I thought he was the answer and was happy when the Indians brought him up. Unfortunately, he looked clueless. Not ready at all. He never got much of a chance after that, and got let go. He has had a choppy MLB career. But he has made a all-star team and today he leads the NL in RBI.
Because of the mistakes with Aguilar, I think the Indians want to be extra cautious with Bradley, and give him all the time he needs.
Aguilar combined minor league numbers --
.271, 140 HR, 650 RBI, 394 BB, 783 K, .348 OBP, .454 SLG, .802 OPS

Bradley combined minor league numbers --
.252, 151 HR, 501 RBI, 311 BB, 794 K, .341 OBP, .503 SLG, .844 OPS

Bobby Bradley and Jesus Aguilar are/were nothing alike other than they both possess power.

I am also in the camp Nolan Jones is on the cusp of a freefall. Far too many K's, platoon issues and defensive limbo... Typically that isn't isn't a recipe for success.

I'd be more than happy to include him in a potential trade for another bat.

I think a move with regards to Chang/Gimenez is even more likely than Bauers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gimenez go down to play SS every day in Columbus.

I think Miller being brought up is an absolute given.

I'll probably get slaughtered for saying anything non-negative about him, but I think Bauers has looked much improved at the plate for a little while now. I haven't looked at the data to back it up, but to my eyes he's hitting the ball harder even if sometimes it's right at a defender. I won't shed a tear when we pull the plug on him, but I don't think he's a complete lost cause. I think we can write Chang off.
What happens to Arias who is probably viewed as the future SS for this team.

Arias will still play some SS if Gimenez goes down, but expect Arias to play a lot of 3B with Jones seeing a lot more time in the OF/1B. Especially the OF if we call up an OFer at the same time we add Miller.

Send him to AA?

Then what happens to Fermin?

Honestly, I don't know. I certainly don't have all the answers right now. It would be nice if players started to rise to the top instead of the limbo we have at nearly every position except third base.

I don't think Arias will be sent down with the way he is playing, and while he has played 3B I don't believe that's what they prefer to do. What a logjam.

I have no idea what they should do either other than make a damn trade or 2 to clear some space and improve the big league club.

Is AA even a demotion from AAA? Isn't it widely regarded that AA often has better talent in it than AAA?

Turning some of our extraneous players into assets would be nice. It could certainly help clear some of this up.

No way we send Arias to AA with Palacios, Freeman and Fermin all working the MIF there. Palacios may get converted to CF/OF full-time but even then I don't see it.

Arias will work a lot of 3B/SS and Gimenez will work a lot of SS/2B. Clement and Krieger play where needed.

We definitely still need an upgrade over Bauers, but there isn’t an obvious choice right now to do so. Bobby Bradley isn’t exactly lighting AAA on fire.
Yea, I've given up on Bradley and I suspect the Tribe FO is moving in that direction also.

And also cherry-picking.

Ignoring the entirety of 2020 at the alt site, to focus on 100 at-bats over a 2+ year span.

That seems pretty silly on its face, because it is.
Well, if you have any data from there, feel free to share it. I can't include performance that hasn't been registered (for the public)
