2023 NFL Draft - Day 2 - Rounds 2 & 3

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Which position do the Browns take with their first pick on Day 2?

Tillman is basically a souped up version of DPJ.

I admit didn't put much stock into him being picked because the Browns had never picked a player 23 or older in the first three rounds, but he's a good player.
That's all we needed baby. DPJ is my #4, and a damn good one for Deshaun. I'm loving this offense now.

At the end of the day, we gave Watson a shit load of money to take us to the promise land. With the QB’s in the AFC, we’re going to to have to put up some serious points to make the playoffs and advance. WR wouldn’t have been my first pick there, but we can not put Cooper, DPJ, Njoku, Moore, and Tillman on the field at the same time. That combination of size, speed, and strength is going to be difficult for any secondary to handle.

Bingo. And as someone else mentioned, with Watson’s contract we have to start getting salary cap creative. Can’t pay DPJ big money. We just drafted his 2024 replacement

Was just messin around. I don't think much of Hyatt at all.

Tillman seems like a solid pick to me.
I preferred other positions to WR.
But now they have more flexibility in that WR room this season and next. Lots of options for them to decide how to handle DPJ and Cooper

Whoa, Marte Mapu was my small school sleeper but I never thought he'd go day two. Good for him, fun defensive positionless player.

Reading some initial reactions, surprised to see so many positive responses regarding the Browns taking Tillman.. Seemed to be the guy a lot of analysts had as "flying under the radar" or their "sleeper" or "this guy is going to be better than people expect"...

We've heard all offseason about Stefanski opening up the offense and wanting to play more to Watson's style (playing more shotgun, 4-5 WR sets) and this seems to speak to that... Cooper, DPJ, Moore, Bell. and Tillman is extremely deep with Goodwin, Grant, Schwartz fighting for the last one or two spots on the roster.. Perhaps this is a year they keep 7 WRs..

Tillman seems to be a Stefanski type of guy with his reliable hands; tough, physical play; and his willingness to block... Also a bit of overlap with David Bell who they took last year... Between Cooper, DPJ, Tillman and Bell, would have like to seen a little bit more skillset diversity within that group..

The age is certainly a surprise with Berry's history -- guess he wasn't lying about age not being a hard guardrail they have...

Also seems like protection with the WR room uncertainty past this year with decisions to make on Cooper and DPJ...

Ultimately, I'm okay with the pick -- don't feel strongly one way or another... Respect the NFL Draft community's appreciation for Tillman but not overly excited about the fit or where other holes exist on the roster..

Amari Cooper
Donovan Peoples-Jones
Elijah Moore
Cedric Tillman
David Bell
Marquise Goodwin

That's 6.

Will they keep 7?

Feels like this Tillman addition hurts Grant's chances as now it seems the Browns can use DPJ as their punt returner without as much concern with him getting dinged up.

We can still take Darnell Washington at #98

Weapons are nice for Pitt. Too bad they did take a new QB
