Around the NFL 2011-2012

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Marshall and Bess will be absoloute beasts in a WCO. Marshall especially, he could have a career year with the right signal caller.

Which brings us to the next point. They will need a QB who can run the West Coast. I wouldn't be surprised if they did go after Flynn. More importantly, if they don't, it should be a huge red flag to anyone out there who is thinking about trying to sign him.

I'm on my iPod so i can't copy and paste on twitter but several sources say chip kelly has taken the head coaching position at Tampa bay

Report: Oregon coach Chip Kelly close to deal with Bucs

Posted by Mike Florio on January 22, 2012, 8:23 PM EST

Two days ago, we pointed out that a college coach could come out of nowhere to fill one of the four remaining coaching vacancies. More than a week ago, a man who coached two of the teams currently looking for a new head coach (former Buccaneers and Colts coach Tony Dungy) told PFT Live that Oregon coach Chip Kelly would be a good NFL coach.

“Chip knows how to motivate people,” Dungy said. “He thinks outside the box.”

Now, KGW-TV in Portland reports that Oregon coach Chip Kelly is close to becoming the coach of the Buccaneers.

“Kelly is in the process of finalizing a deal that would make him the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,” Michael Berk of KGW Sports writes. “A source close to the situation said Kelly will make the jump to the NFL if he can come to terms on a contract.”

Look for Kelly and the Bucs to deny it until the Bucs can supply Kelly as the coach of the team. Otherwise, Kelly’s incoming recruits will face a barrage from Oregon’s competitors regarding the possibility that Kelly won’t be the coach when the new class of players start their second year with the school.

Report: Bucs, Kelly hope to reach deal within next 24-48 hours

Posted by Mike Florio on January 22, 2012, 9:25 PM EST

The report from KGW has sparked a chase for confirmation of the notion that Oregon coach Chip Kelly is close to coming to terms with the Buccaneers.

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times gets the prize.

Per Stroud, a “secret meeting” between Kelly and the Bucs has the two sides hopeful that a deal can be worked out within 24-48 hours.

College coaches can’t flirt with jobs like this, especially since the pursuit almost always occurs during recruiting season. If Kelly isn’t leaving Oregon, he needs to do some immediate damage control in order to hold together his class of incoming freshmen.

RT @AdamSchefter: Chip Kelly has decided not to take Buccaneers offer. "Its a no-go," said a source close to Kelly. "His heart is still with Oregon."*

I wouldn't take it if I were him. I'd prefer a cozy college job where you could suck up paychecks and rule supreme for 20 years in a place where people adore you as opposed to a job that you're most likely going to be tossed out of unceremoniously after a few years. Chances are that Oregon is probably the best job he'll ever get.

SI's Peter King thinks the Texans are "seriously considering" letting Mario Williams walk in free agency.
The Texans' defense remained dominant even after Williams (torn pectoral) was lost for the season in Week 5. Youngsters J.J. Watt and Brooks Reed proved to be more than capable replacements, combining for seven sacks in two playoff games. Although the Texans have publicly stated otherwise, it's possible that breaking the bank for Williams won't be a priority.

Free agency target number one.

I think your mad bro...and just to point it out he wasnt the only one that said he was taking the job in Tampa

I don't think boobie sitting there likely chuckling to himself is any indication of being mad.

I also don't think anyone else said this was a "done deal" except for this champion of Twitter you herald so often.

CBS reported JoePa's death prematurely on Twitter and got lambasted for it. This guy reported something prematurely (and eventually completely wrong), but it's okay because anyone who points that out is a simple case of "u mad."

iBob doing what he does best. Makes guesses just before everyone else, but every time he has been wrong he just points out "shit happens". It really is good with the shallow group, but I'm not sure how any legitimate sports fan can't see his strategy. Bold guesses look great when right, especially when you advertise the answer.

On the contrary, every time iBob has guessed wrong, someone or something else changed his "source's" info. Do any of you lemmings following this guy realize that at the rate he has been predicting shit, he must have more sources than Adam Schefter and Chris Broussard combined? Yet he is an unemployed, shit-talking predictor of sports moves.

I'd love to know how some ex-con has sources within the Oregon campus, Orlando, LA, the Falcons, the Jets, the Browns, the Eagles, the Rangers, etc, etc, etc... Any legitimate answers?

iBob is the only person I've seen that has been wrong more often than not, defends his misinformation with "shit happens", and people still defend the guy. Unreal.
