If you like sour beers, you've probably already heard of Cascade, but damn if they don't make some absolutely fantastic beers. Sang Noir is one of their brews that has a 100 on Beer Advocate, and it earns it.

Also, if you like IPAs, this is one of the best I've ever had:

Fuck you guys!

I'm drinking the Champagne of Beers...

Any of you beer snobs ever tried Bud Light? Pretty solid. Tough to find but if any of you want some, I know a guy.

Drinking this right now. It was voted one of the 25 best beers in the world in 2013. It's easy to see why. It tastes amazing and smells even better. Easily one of the best beers I've ever had.

Hey, you're welcome.

Speaking of head, I'm headed to Portland for the Oregon Brewers Festival without the kid on the weekend of July 25th. I attended five years ago and had an absolutely amazing time, something like 100 craft breweries from all over the U.S. served under a long line of beer tents. So stoked, can't wait!

Sounds awesome. Charlotte has an amazing Oktoberfest beer festival that I have gone to every year since I moved here. It's always one of the highlights of the year, and a couple of my best friends from college even make the drive down from Ohio to join. I can imagine the Oregon one is awesome. I've been ordering a lot of west coast brews that aren't distributed here and there are some really incredible breweries out there.

On a side note, I've heard Deschutes is planning to open an east coast brewery, possibly in North or South Carolina. I know Stone is opening a brewery here as well. I think they're currently eyeing Charleston, although I'm still hoping they change their mind and pick Charlotte. :chuckles:

The Deschutes beers are solid across the board. The store near my house used to underprice Mirror Pond Pale Ale and charge a buck more than 12 packs of Budweiser. That was all I drank until they did a price correction.

Nice. I have a couple of bottles of Mirror Mirror by them in my beer cabinet right now. That is an intense barleywine. I have a handful of bottles of Not the Stoic too. That's a great beer. 12.1% and it definitely doesn't taste like it. I also have a bottle of Hop in the Dark (haven't tried it yet...only bought one bottle) and a Black Butte Porter, which was one of the smoothest porters I've ever had.

I've never had Mirror Pond before. I'll have to try it if the site I order from ever gets it in. They have a listing for it, but it's currently out of stock.

On an unrelated note, I was able to order a bottle of Pliny from that site last week. I'm excited. Never had it before and always heard good things.

Quick question Jack, how are you posting these pics here? Can you easily do it from your phone or do you have to actually host them?

EDIT: Nvm, it was just a picture from the internet.

Yup. If I post one of my own pics, it's generally just one I uploaded to Facebook first. Then I just right click it, copy the URL, and then paste it here.

But for most beers I just do a google image search. Someone else has probably taken better pictures than me of them anyway. :chuckles:

I took a picture of the Bay Area craft brew porter showdown I'm throwing in my mouth tonight. The Cleveland snow globe is just proof I'm downing these suckers and know how to take my own pics.

For anyone in the Mentor area, you'll love Red Wine and Brew. AMAZING if you love craft beer. They have a shitload of different kinds of beer it's a big place.

Whoa man! This Lagunitas beer "Night Time" isn't a porter at all... The misleading name is due to its 8.2 alc. by Vol. Whoops! I may not be able to finish all three of these puppies. This thing is already packing a whallop. Good night!
