Beer snob thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If I value my health the only time I get to have alcohol now is with food and I have to limit my intake, yay diabetes. Luckily I can have a couple brews with my dinner every once in awhile and i'm good. I actually helped with the formation of a local craft brewery in my area. From what I hear they are going to start canning sometime soon. They also have biodegradable growlers for your summer time fun.

I work at a supermarket for my summer job and these just came in:

Finally got my hands on a bottle of Pliny. It should be here Saturday. I'll post thoughts once I try it!

Did anyone attend the World Beer Festival in Cleveland yesterday? I volunteered as a server and had a great time.

So Pliny was pretty awesome. One of the better IPAs I've had. Glad I finally got the chance to try it. Great bitter hop flavor. On par with the best offerings from Stone. It's a shame they don't ship it anywhere near here.

Drinking this right now:

This beer is absolutely incredible. Even better than the last batch of it that I had. Nice and tart with a strawberry finish. If you can find it, buy it (and anything else by Cascade...everything they make is awesome).

I wish..had other stuff going on.

I am on a full-go sour kick right now... Absolutely in love with any type of sour.

Sours have really grown on me in the past year, to the point where they might be my favorite beer type. If you can get hold of anything by Cascade, definitely do it. Every beer I've had from them is amazing, and they basically only make sours and wild ales.

Wicked Weed is another company to look out for. Most of their bottles offerings are sours, farmhouse ales, or wild ales. Black Angel and Oblivion are the two best sours I've had from them. They're located in Asheville, so it's pretty easy to find their bottles here, but I'm not sure how far out of state they ship their brews. Their bottled stuff only started showing up here recently, although I've seen their kegs on tap for over a year now.

I know it's not a crazy beer that is not known, but had it for the first time on the weekend.

Thinner, less potent option to an IPA. Really liked the after taste it left in my mouth. Knew I was only having 1 and it was a real hot day, so didn't want to go w/a crazy strong beer for the 2 hours drive ahead of me. I poured it from the bottle into a glass, and paired it with 2 sliders, a filet mignon slider and a scallop slider. It was crazy good with both. Surprised with the scallop, but with the citrus flavor, I guess I can see it.

I recommend it as a beer to drink on a porch/grilling out w/a stronger flavor w/o going overboard, where you will have a few.

I love those kinds of beers. Good on a hot summer day when you are outside, not so intense that you can't drink a handful of them, but not pisswater either.

Another good one is Stoudt's Gold Lager. Haven't found it anywhere except for the liquor store on West Market in Akron a few years ago, then again I haven't looked too hard.

Don't know if you head out that way Kouki, but had it at Darby's in Stow last week. Really good little place. You would probably pass it all day, everyday, but you should definitely try it out.

Does West Point Market sell beer? I feel if they do, they would have a good selection? Or Buehlers in Medina down 18?

We have a real nice liquor store here in Toledo that pretty much sells anything and everything. So I might do a little Jack action and get a different 6 every week and do a review.

I think West Point Market has a good beer selection, I've only been there once and it was years ago...I know they have great meats and cheeses and produce. Never been to that Buehler's, I live down in North Canton...we have a few groceries that are coming around and have been offering more microbrews within the last couple years, plus a World Market that always has more unique offerings. Heard of Darby's but never been there. I don't get out much in the Akron area anymore (since I graduated) except for work lunches.

Popped open a bottle of Stone Enjoy By 07.04.14. As you probably guessed, it's pretty good. I liked the last Enjoy By batch better (in fact, it was one of the best IPAs I've ever had), but this one is no slouch. If you guys see it at your local store, grab a bottle or two and drink it fast.
