Brendan Haywood's Trade Exception

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Brendan Haywood Traded to Cleveland

Anybody think this is what we traded Scotty Hopson's contract for?

Re: Brendan Haywood Traded to Cleveland

If Haywood doesn't get bought out this year, his 2015-16 salary is $10M unguaranteed fully if waived by 8/1/15. That's HUGE TRADE BAIT

if thats the case, that is a HUGE deal.

That was the contract he had with the Mavericks. He was amnestied and claimed by Charlotte a few years back...only owed $2 mil next season.

Brendan Haywood signed a 4 year / $16.84 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets, including $6,313,688 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $4,209,047.

2012-2013 2,050,000 - - 2,050,000
2013-2014 2,050,000 - - 2,050,000
2014-2015 2,213,688 - - 2,213,688
2015-2016 10,522,500 - - 10,522,500

The last year is fully unguaranteed

Re: Brendan Haywood Traded to Cleveland

So basically, after they sign LeBron & Melo and trade for Love, they can dangle Haywood's contract out for another high salary player. Seems legit.

Re: Brendan Haywood Traded to Cleveland

I mean, it should be fairly obvious to everyone we acquired Haywood so he can be used for later trade purposes. Don't know if he'll even play for us.

Re: Brendan Haywood Traded to Cleveland

Haywood looks like a long lost Ninja Turtle.

Re: Brendan Haywood Traded to Cleveland

He should change his name to Haywood Jablowme

Gonna be honest, I didn't know that was a part of his contract. Nice find.

Re: Brendan Haywood Traded to Cleveland

This team is going to be fun to keep tabs on for the next month or so. So many pieces will be on the move in the next month, it should be fun. We have Irving, Varejao, Thompson, Waiters, Zeller, Bennett, Karasev, Felix, Wiggins, Harris, Powell, Haywood, Hopson, Gee, Dellavedova, Jack and a giant load of cap room.

Re: Brendan Haywood Traded to Cleveland

So does this mean we aren't taking back Haywood? Or we still are? I hope not.

Re: Brendan Haywood Traded to Cleveland

I find a Gee-Haywood swap kind of weird. We could have just trade future 2nd for this 2nd.

We probably couldn't. This was a deep draft, which put a premium on the value. Cavs essentially bought the pick and retained an asset for next year.
