Browns Free Agency 2015

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Brian Hartline visiting the Browns.

I actually heard this could get done quickly, but I'm not sure if my source is just trying to put 2 and 2 together or if he actually has real info.

It makes alot of sense for both sides.

Struggled last year in a new offense in Miami but he's a natural WCO fit with what DeFilippo is trying to do here....had back to back 1,000 yard seasons in the WCO

Can honestly say I've never seen a reporter go in like this.

Poor taste on her part.

When I've watched Dolphins games the past few years, it's clear Hartline is a more polished receiver now than he was with the Buckeyes. His hands were always good, but he doesn't get thrown off routes by physical corners as often, compared to when I watched OSU games. That said, he is a low end #2 receiver. He will always struggle getting open against top corner backs and he has plays where he gives in and doesn't battle. He needs to be physical in blocking and fighting for 50/50 balls to be a starter, and I think Miami felt like he wasn't doing that last season. Maybe he clashed with Lazor's scheme, I have no idea.

You're really valuing the 50/50 balls.

I guess maybe that's par for the course with what we're expecting from the QB situation, but I'd prefer to throw as little 50/50 balls as possible in 2015.

Hartline runs a 4.5 and has a history of getting erased from the box score if a good corner is on him. Making catches in tight coverage is going to be important for a possession receiver, right? He also needs to prove that he is still a willing blocker. I think that lapsed last year.

We need a big receiver already. Enough of guys that are small or play small. Hartline doesn't fit the bill. He's not a #2 WR and he fits right in with the tier of Hawkins and Gabriel. Hartline would be just another guy out there when we need impact players on offense.

When you can't rely on guys like Gordon, the health of Austin, the effectiveness of Benjamin (or the potential cuts of Gabriel, etc.) then a signing like this makes sense. Right now you have one roster spot nailed down at receiver and that's Andrew Hawkins.

Will be plenty of opportunity to draft a big man.

Yeah, Hartline is a good add.

You're not going to find dynamic playmakers in free agency. Hartline brings another reliable threat to the offense and they'd be lucky to get him.

Just because you need a dynamic "jump ball guy" doesn't mean you pass on good adds when you can get them.

The team has many needs.

he probably ####ed her
I don't think she fools around with Gentiles, and another small time Florida reporter backed her up on this. Where there it's smoke there is something that is smoking or whatever. I really don't care personally. The inability to go up and get the 50/50 balls is what concerns me if JFF wins the starting/fill in job.

Yeah, he is a guy who can move the chains, and he is almost 6'2. There is a difference between getting receptions against physical coverage and "jump balls." I just thought we should discuss why he is available and got half the yards/receptions he did the previous few seasons. He lost his #2 receiver job to Jarvis Landry, but he is a better outside receiver than most of the roster. I'd take him, I just hope he gets back to the physical and aggressive player he was before Lazor's scheme came in.
