LeBron should just worry about what he is getting paid, and we are giving him every dollar available every year, probably even near the end when he doesn't deserve it.

LeBron might think he has the leverage but he doesn't. He isnt going to leave again. He needs to be on the side of the org. for once. It isnt like we are low balling TT. We are already offering more than he is worth.

LeBron preaches leadership. Where is the leadership here? The Cavs are offering TT more money than any team in their right mind would offer him and Lebron doesn't think that is good enough? This should be a lesson to Cavs to never hire a Rich Paul player ever again.

That I do agree with.

If only Tristan didn't hire Rich Paul, we'd be treating him just like JR right now, low balling the hell out of him.

So, have you personally watched Varejao work out since the injury or are you the only person on Earth with a functional crystal ball? He was playing well in the beginning of last season, he was just playing too many minutes.

He averaged less than 25 MPG as a starter last year, and had a catastrophic injury anyway. The record of players in their 30s returning from Achilles tears is bad...if they come back it they are almost always greatly reduced in effectiveness.

He has more than the organization.

LeBron leaving is a big hit to his PR.

It's a gigantic hit to Dan Gilbert's wallet and this teams odds of actually winning a championship. He's in a stronger position than the organization is.

I don't think LB is leaving either, but it does worry me the Clippers have cap space next year. And if we piss in LeBron's ear enough, well, you never know with this guy.

If Tristan Thompson thinks he is worth Draymond Green's salary then by all means sign the QO and dare someone to pay you that next offseason.

normally i would agree with you. but there might very well be 20-25 teams with Max. cap room next year (because of the cap rise). Draymond gets 16.4Mio/yr (5yrs/82Mio), i could easily see a desperate team jumping in and offer TT more than that (per year) and he's not gonna be a restricted free agent after accepting the QO (so the Cavs won't be able to sit back and match any offer).

An ego maniac like LeBron may tolerate a PR-hit less well than a multibillionaire like Gilbert might tolerate a wallet-hit.

Windy has no sources when it comes to LeBron. He's been shut out so he knows nothing other than what other writers are feeding him. Remember when the board went all crazy when Broussard reported that Love was visiting the Lakers as a FA trip and he then signed a 5 year deal w/ the Cavs the next day? Stop listening to gossip regarding LBJ and the inner working of the Cavs. It's not worth it.

Douche LeBron will always be a douche. Everyone says they want wings over David West, but can you name me some that would come here for that cheap?

Right now, we have five big men under contract, including TT.

Christmas is a rookie second round pick who may spend most of the year in the D-Leage and not be ready for NBA ball until 2016-17, if ever. So that's only four big men on whom we can rely.

Andy is very injury prone and may be a shadow of himself when he comes back from his Achilles tear. So that's only three big men on whom we can rely.

Love may not be ready to start the season from his shoulder surgery, and had back problems last year.

By the time the conference finals rolled around, we had only one legitimate 5 able to suit up, and one legitimate 4.

Anyone who thinks there's no room for a David West on this roster needs to think again.

I think it's a matter of priorities.

People are concerned the Cavs may use the MMLE to get another big when there is arguably a bigger need for another playmaker. It's not unreasonable to believe this, as David Griffin himself said they wanted more playmaking. He didn't say anything about wanting another bigman.

I have to believe there is a plan to get a perimeter player/playmaker that is independent of their pursuit of West.

Personally, I am agnostic. I mean, I think West could probably help, but how many minutes will he get? Will he be happy with that role? Does getting him mean the team misses out on someone else? Can Varejao provide at least spot minutes? I can't have an opinion on West unless I have some insight into these questions.

I suppose the Lebron angle might have some influence, but the other issue is if we sign him a qualifying offer he can just sign it, play one year, and become an unrestricted free agent. That means we'd likely lose him altogether.

that wouldn't bother me that much. he's not even a starter.

I get your point and largely agree, but West at the MMLE is a ridiculously good bargain. And I was responding primarily to those who thought getting West would mean too many guys at the 4/5.

But I do agree that we need a wing worse.. I'd hope/expect Griffin would have something lined up with the Haywood contract or vet min to help on the wing before using the MMLE on West.

Part of the way I look at this is that West is much more talented than any wing we could expect to get with the MMLE, so using that on West and Haywood on wing/backup PG is probably the most efficient use of resources.
