Cavs Season Ticket Renewals/Pricing

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have a full season and did not see an increase on my tickets which are bleeders in section 200, row 11. I expected to see an increase, but was shocked that it did not happen.

Ticket pricing, increases and discounting seems to be a mystery this year. With flex pricing, etc., I really have no idea what others in my section, etc. are paying. It used to be that the Cavs had a published schedule of pricing per section that you could reference. I'm curious about three things:

1) Do the Cavs have a two or more tier system of pricing (before any discounting) even within a section? (i.e., Are the rows closer to the Court are paying more?);

2) Are the Cavs really giving longevity discounts and, if so, what is the discount schedule? (or, are the Cavs charging their most loyal, long standing customers the most, before or after any discounting, figuring they'll just return);

3) Are the Cavs giving different incentives for different customers? If so, what are they and why? The only incentive I heard about is a scarf.

Maybe the Cavs will publish all this as in year's past, and I hope so. Doing so will end any speculation as to the above. I believe in transparency, especially with some of these prices being close to mortgage payments.

I thought we'd get more intel on ticket pricing in this thread. Anyone else care to share what their increases, etc. are?
I mean, I think most of us did post our increases in here. That and Rovell saying that increases were about 10-20% across the board.

Not just that, but can you guys share what season tickets cost in general? I did some research on the website but was unable to find anything. I assume there are different packages for number of games, etc., but any other info would be appreciated. Are they cheaper than face value for single tickets on the website? If you buy a large number of games, do you get any free tickets thrown in? Do you have to buy in pairs? Is there a PSL?

I understand if you feel uncomfortable sharing what you spend every year, so just general rates would be awesome for various levels of seats.

If you contact a ticket rep, they will send you a pricing chart. They're not too pushy, at least no one I ever dealt with.

They are significantly cheaper than face value for single tickets, but that largely depends on the game too. The Cavs do dynamic pricing based on matchup, weekday vs weekend, etc. Seats in my section go anywhere from $110 to $300 per game depending on the matchup for single games. They usually hover around $130 though I think.

There are no free tickets given usually, unless you are a new member. I think they are running a promotion right now that if you sign up for next year you get free tickets to a game this year and a chance at a playoff game.

I think you can buy a single seat but I'm not sure.

There are no PSL's. It's just the raw price for the game and that's it. However you are required to buy preseason tickets. How many depends on your package. My half season plan only included one preseason game.

Usually if you want playoff tickets, you are required to buy the entire package that is associated with your plan. Like, I have a half season plan, so I would get every other game. In the past, with a 10 game plan, you had to pay for all 16 potential games up front, and then they'd refund you. I think now, at least with half and full, you are only charged by the round for the games they actually play.

All in all, they take pretty good care of you and there are some fun perks.

So I talked to our rep again. The are phasing out the 5 game package, which is what we have. If you put a deposit down ($200 per seat) you priority to get at LEAST 10 games. Possibly more if available. They are running a special if you place a deposit on 2 seats, you'll get 4 tickets to the Clippers game this Thursday AND you WILL get to buy tickets to 1 first round playoff game this year. Still no pricing. You don;t know where the seat are and the flash seats problem. I told him other than playoff tickets I can get better seats for cheaper from flash seats. He said they are working to correct that and increase the "secondary market prices".

that's what i got as well, except that i only got 2 tickets (to the portland game though, which ended up being such a great game) for 2 deposits. i'm happy that we'll have access to a first round playoff game, since i know tickets will be very expensive on flash seats.

Pretty hilarious because the reason they are so low is that they put the fear of God into anyone trying to sell their tickets on there.

I think they are low due to supply and demand. A ton of ticket brokers (and people who thought they could make a quick buck on Lebron coming back) did buy seats this year thinking they would cash in on the Lebron return and it is not happening for them at all (that and the Cavs held some thinking they would cash in on selling individual seats).

Take a look, those posting at "low prices near their cost" are not getting any bids even close.

I was a season ticket holder-and due to kids sports schedules and time to actually go I did not renew before Lebron came back because I ended up losing on every game we could not make.

When Lebron came back I emailed my rep as I figured if I missed a game I could at least get back some of my money. I was put on the list-and got a whopping 5 game package. Instead of prioritizing those of us that paid thousands and thousands of dollars the last 4 years to watch crap-they took the ticket broker's money.

Well those ticket brokers are NOT renewing as they are taking a bath-and now they need the real fans back--and guess what, ain't happening.

I will be content driving down and buying tickets for next to nothing on flash seats at game time when I want to go to a game. Sat in Club level seats a few weeks back for $22 for 3 seats. Won the bid right at game time. That was cheaper than 1 ticket for my 5 game package.

Well, a couple things about all that.

First, I can tell you exactly why there are so many cheap seats to be had. It's because the Cavs basically threatened anyone who sold their seats for any kind of markup, or sold them at all. So suddenly those high priced seats disappeared, and the ones that remained were basically too scared to list for anything more than near face value.

Second, that horrible losing streak and the insanity it caused on Cleveland talk radio and such really killed the casual fan interest. I'll bet you see an uptick as we get closer and closer to the playoffs.

Third, this must be exclusively a Loudville problem. Because my seats are in the lower corners, and I have had no problem selling the handful of games that I did for more than I paid for, at least for good games. Seems like tickets to games like tonight's against Philly on a Monday can be had for pretty cheap. Looks like most are selling for the price of the season package, and a couple bottom barrel sales.

And finally, when you say they want the real fans back and "it ain't happening", I'm pretty sure it'll happen. They are obviously gonna lose disgruntled former customers like yourself, but they have still sold out every single game this year in paid attendance despite there being pockets of tickets that become available close to game time, and as far actual attendance, I've been to 10 or so games this year, and they are packed. The only empty seats I ever see are ones that you can typically explain away by people not being able to attend or are out in the hallways and vending areas. Last year I could roll up 10 minutes before tip off and park across the street. Now, everything within 5 blocks of the Q is full an hour before the game. People are going, there's no question about that.

So yeah, you saw what happened when Bron came back. Demand was insane. And then we started to suck and the Cavs doubled down with their goofy ticket policies. But just wait until we make a deep playoff run, or better yet, make the Finals or win the title. Pretty sure they're not gonna have a problem filling those seats.

I think the only real issue with selling tickets is doing so on a forum that is not flash seats, which would be contrary to the contract we all signed. I think there was some confusion with this issue and the general issue of selling too many seats on flash seats. First, there is nothing in the contract or anywhere about a limit on how many you can sell. Second, I never received any complaint for selling seats on flash seats. Third, there may have been an early watchful eye on any scalpers or persons buying just to sell and try to make a profit, but I think this was for newbies, certainly no ticketholders who have been with the Cavs during the recent painful years. I've not heard this issue arise except for here during the preseason.

Anyone been hassled lately for selling too many seats on flashseats?
