I'm sure Grant will be in the running for, if not win GM of the year....

I'd give Grant a 9 or a 10. He has done nothing but impress me over the course of the year.

Gilbert telling the media the length of CG's man hood...CG is a beast for him to be able to what he has done to shape this team with what type of hand he was given it's incredible gotta give it to the guy. But i'll give him a 9.

Love how so many people unjustly bashed this guy, and the organization as a whole during the [dark] beginning of the rebuild. Grant has stuck to his plan, and has executed it beautifully. And he's not done yet. Expect next off season to be even crazier.

Ive always backed him. Think he generally makes really good decisions. Dion was my test for him, and he passed, I'm all in.

Anyone else really worried the cavs dont have what it takes to get over the hump though? It takes more than incredible strategy and talent.. more like an incredible stroke of blind fucking luck, whether it be in regards of a lebron james type player coming to town or getting incredible matchups and an easy path to the finals like we did in 07

I have had no major complaints with any of Grant's moves as GM, but you can't call him the best GM in the league (or even close to that) until we actually have some success on the court.

This is coming from a guy who thinks Grant has done a great job rebuilding and drafting this team in the wake of LeBron's departure, but it's premature to say anything more than that.

Gilbert went with Grant because he had a plan. He knew what he was doing. Just look at the haul of draft picks we have. And in 2015 we have a chance at having four first rounders. It's unlikely because I think Memphis will not be in the lottery (top 5 protected and 15-30 protected), but Sacramento may climb out of the top ten and we get Miami's pick, which may be higher if LeBron goes elsewhere. Three picks in 2015 is very possible.

Even next year we have some ammunition to move up with. We also have plenty of picks to package in potential S&T deals for various players.

Grant set us up to add talent through free agency after he got a chance to draft some.

Everything we've done to improve and the only thing we've burned is cap space, which at times has seemed hard for us to give away. We still have all our own future draft picks intact, all three owed picks intact(sac, mia, mem), and a stable full of young cost effective first round talent already on the team that can be used in a trade for a superstar. That Grant has got our roster to this point without giving up any of those things is huge.

We are not pigeonholed into LeBron being the only combination/final piece at all. So many directions we can take over the next 12 months.

Grant has done a great job setting up the team. From a talent and potential standpoint, anyone with eyes can see that the Cavs are LOADED. It's now up to the coaching staff to get the most out of these guys.

And the trainers and medical staff.

Plenty of great GM's out there - Presti, Pritchard, Morey, Grant, Hennigan are all very, very similar. As you can tell, luck plays a huge role into success/failure rates.

Presti - Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka
Pritchard - Think on this: The Pacers haven't drafted in the top 9 since 1989. George (10th), Hibbert (17th from Raptors), Granger (17th), Stephenson (40th). Maybe the best scouting in the NBA, sans the Spurs.
Morey - Stole Harden, got Howard bc of Harden, drafted Parsons and made a great poison pill offer for Asik
Grant - Kyrie, Dion, Tristan - tons of financial restraints enabled him to gran Bynum and Jack on very good, short-term deals
Hennigan - In 1 years time, post Dwight, Hennigan has added Vukevic, Tobias Harris, Mo Harkless and Victor Oladipo.

Then you have your godfathers: R.C. Buford & Pat Riley

Morey probably gets that one this year

Next year is the year Grant could pull that off

Grant hires the coach, so that's on him. And our talent, as much as we all like it, is still largely unproven. Also, as we saw with Ferry, the GM still has a lot of work to do even when we get good.

It's still way too early to crown Grant with anything.
