Roster hasn't made sense since Z retired. With the iron man gone it doesn't make much sense to retain varejao and Thompson.

Just kind of thinking aloud here...pretend we stick with our current roster and that the players develop nicely over the next two years. Maybe not 100% to their ceilings. But pretend Kyrie gets to 22/8 with great efficiency, Dion gets more consistent off the bench averaging 18 or so, CJ gets moderately consistent, Tristan starts taking (and hitting) jumpers consistently...Deng and Varejao don't fall off a cliff...could the roster be a championship contender?

May not have a "big three" but with Kyrie and Dion dropping 40 in the backcourt, Deng and Miles combining for 25-30, TT and Andy combining for 20-25. Add in defense from Mike Brown and a front court of Deng/TT/AV...perhaps the only thing standing in our way in the East is Hibbert.

Maybe I'm riding a combined wave of a two-game win streak, the trade for Deng making our roster mostly well-rounded (finally), and a bit of alcohol. I think its fun to think about though, since the guys we have now are likable and I'd hate to get rid of them.

I don't think we're keeping Miles unless he agrees to a (perceived) paycut. Some team that really needs a 3pt shooter is gonna offer more money than we will.
It doesn't seem that Varejao will be in the future plans either (much to my dismay).
I think sometime within the next 2 years, we'll acquire one last major piece. Don't know who it is yet, but it'll most likely be a defensive big man.

Kyrie could be much, much better than this in 2 years. Since his scoreless Atlanta game he's been a top-5 offensive player in the NBA, not to mention his rapidly improving defense. Expect him to continue to improve as he matures and he finally enjoys the benefits of a normal supporting cast.

You are definitely right, he could put up much better numbers...hell I wouldn't be surprised if he averaged 22/8 on efficient numbers for the rest of this season right now. I would prefer he becomes a great defender and team player while growing in efficiency, and assuming our team grows around him so he has to carry less load offensively. Team would probably be at it's best if he is averaging 24/9 on 50/40/90.

Lol, I want Kyrie to be the best that he can be too, but the 50-40-90 club is an exclusive club that only has six members...I think he can come close, though.

Well, he's shooting 49-45-93 over his last 14 games. That's pretty close. Not to mention more points, more assists, fewer turnovers, more steals, and more blocks than LeBron on a per-minute basis over that stretch.

No matter how much Kyrie improves his game in other areas, his greatest strength will always be scoring and hitting shots.

There are very few players that I think would be capable of 50-40-90...but Kyrie is one of them.

(Off-topic Fun Fact Edit: Did you know that Danny Ferry of all people is unofficially part of the 50-40-90 club? He had 50-44-91 in the 1999-2000 season. However he's not in the NBA record books because you need at minimum 300 FGs, 55 3PTs and 125 FTs to qualify as a "league leader", and Ferry had 189/33/52 respectively.)

Kind of proved my point. He is having an amazing stretch of games and he still isn't hitting those numbers. He would have to put up better numbers for 6x as long. I do think he can get close, like I said.

We're talking about the future though. Durant shot 48-37-90 in his third year, then three years after that he joined the 50-40-90 club. No reason Kyrie can't do the same thing.

Obviously, he will most likely never hit those numbers. No big deal, it's only been done around ten times.

At any rate, it is a moot point. If you paid attention to the original post, it was a reply to someone saying our offense will run at its most efficient if Kyrie is averaging 24/9 on 50/40/90. That's what I found funny. I know the poster meant around those numbers and not those exact numbers, I just found it humorous.

I had a super vivid dream that I met Chris Grant. Somehow I managed to meet him in this locker room, we sat on this couch and started talking. Just as it was time for CG to leave, I physically grabbed him so he couldn't leave and I confronted him about the Anthony Bennett Situation.

I asked him in a way in which he couldn't smooth talk me out of a clear answer. I said Chris, answer this: realistically with Brown's rotations is it safe to say that Bennett will be getting a minimum of 20 minutes per night? Even Grant couldn't sweet talk out of that one and he admitted he wouldn't to me. I then convinced Chris to send him to the D-League to help his development and Chris thought it was a good idea. Chris was trying to evade me and I snagged him and was like hey Chris, you are a psych major too? Trying to build some last minute camaraderie to get myself a position in the Cavaliers office.

After Chris left, Cleveland was in an apocalyptic meltdown state and I had to fly on the shoddiest airplane of all time, hovering five feet off the ground under the piloting of some of my jackass friends.

:chuckles: Why the hell would that question require any sweet talking? It doesn't even require any spinning. The answer to whether Bennett would (or even should, based on the way he's been playing) get at minimum 20 minutes a night is a clear and obvious no. That's obvious to everyone, not just Chris Grant.
