Chris Grant - Cavaliers GM

I had a super vivid dream that I met Chris Grant. Somehow I managed to meet him in this locker room, we sat on this couch and started talking. Just as it was time for CG to leave, I physically grabbed him so he couldn't leave and I confronted him about the Anthony Bennett Situation.

I asked him in a way in which he couldn't smooth talk me out of a clear answer. I said Chris, answer this: realistically with Brown's rotations is it safe to say that Bennett will be getting a minimum of 20 minutes per night? Even Grant couldn't sweet talk out of that one and he admitted he wouldn't to me. I then convinced Chris to send him to the D-League to help his development and Chris thought it was a good idea. Chris was trying to evade me and I snagged him and was like hey Chris, you are a psych major too? Trying to build some last minute camaraderie to get myself a position in the Cavaliers office.

After Chris left, Cleveland was in an apocalyptic meltdown state and I had to fly on the shoddiest airplane of all time, hovering five feet off the ground under the piloting of some of my jackass friends.

He needs to go

He has done a horrible job rebuilding considering the draft picks....There is still long way to go but we still look like a lottery team or fringe play off team. That isn't good enough imo. i know OKC lucked into Durant, but they made big strides each year. I can't really say the same for us.

Mike Brown isn't a good coach. He was lucky that he had one of the GOAT players playing for him to rise his stock. He was terrible with the Lakers and he is terrible now....I want to see Lionel hollins or even george karl with this rooster.

I feel Waiters and Kyrie still are not a true fit in the mold of Amare and Melo, whilst Bennett and Zeller were poor picks. Cavs can be as optimistic as they like but when you see teams like Golden State, Pacers, OKC challenging and us still a lottery/fringe playoff team especially in a rubbish eastern conference you can't help but sigh.

What are you talking about? When one "considers the draft picks" he has actually done a great job in this rebuild.

Kyrie=Best Pick Available
TT= Good pick. Only 1 or 2 other guys I'd rather have on this team over him from that draft.
Dion= Great pick. Only other player most would rather have is Drummond. Even though we didn't get Drummond we got the next best thing at #4 in Dion who has shown star potential.
Bennett= Questionable. I still like the pick. He has all the tools to be dominant. He has just been mismanaged.

When you throw in the fact that Grant is a master deal maker when it comes to making trades, why would anyone want to get rid of him? I understand that many people have to point a finger of blame whenever things don't go right but honestly Chris Grant isn't the one who should be blamed. Mike Brown is, which brings me to my next point.

Only questionable move Chris Grant has made during his tenure has been the Mike Brown hire. If you think he should be fired because of that then present a case for such, but firing him for "not drafting the right players" is nonsensical. He can't 100% hit on every pick. No one can. Shit happens. But the picks he has made have at least proven they can be major parts of a franchise which is all we can ask for.

I don't understand all the hate this guy gets at all...

Settle down. One road game. One. Grant started with zero assets 3.5 years ago and turned it into a star, an all-star, promising young players, cap space, and tons of picks. Outside of being based in Cleveland, we are projecting to be in a favorable position in the league in a couple of years.

Because despite your positive attitude towards Grant and his draft picks, it is debatable that he missed on them. Also, I would think drafting is the hardest and most valuable asset a GM can bring to a team.

Heavily overrating our situation.

This place does a 180 after every game. My god.

Its not a very good team and the roster is poorly constructed. I agree that people shouldn't put too much weight into one game or a handful of games, but I am confident this will be shown in the long run.

No. It's not even debatable. To "miss" on a draft pick you you have to draft a bust or pass up on a sure-fire star. None of our players are busts and the only "star" we passed up on to date was Drummond in favor of Dion and that argument is a revisionist one at best. All of our young core can be major pieces on a contending team.

The problem with some people on this board is that they expect results now and are oblivious to how young our team is. Moreover, the youngest members on our team are the ones who are under the most pressure to carry this team.

This team will grown. And as it grows we'll incrementally get better. But it takes time.

Again. Debatable. You keep stating your opinions as facts.

True. But the term "miss" is ambiguous in itself when speaking on draft picks. There are different interpretations of what "missing on a draft pick" truly entails.

I just gave an interpretation of the term that is widely agreed upon.

CG deserves credit for making good trades, but his drafting philosophy has been very questionable. I feel like if the Cavs had any other GM running their team during draft day, they would be in better shape today. What has CG really done that has been special in the draft? Kyrie was the obvious pick at #1 and every GM in the league would have done the same. Tristan gives you nothing special. Dion is an undersized combo guard who doesn't mesh well with your star player...would another GM have went the same route? Doubtful. And Bennett is a joke.

No he didn't. He detailed our current situation exactly. Everything he said was fact.

I think you need to re-check the definition of fact. I see the team as has having one all star and not much else, especially if Deng walks at the end of the year. We also have a bad head coach with an albatross of a contract.
