CJ Miles & The Cavs Option

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't hate him as a bench guy

He's decent... Not ideal but ok

#Cavaliers still won't confirm it, but they picked up the option year on contract of SG C.J. Miles (@masfresco), according to #NBA.

He's baaaaaaaaaaaack!

Still don't understand why we value CJ over Ellington.

I think Ellington did a good job but he is going to cost more and would more than likely get a offer sheet for more year than we wanted CJ is a cheap backup SG.

Surely he won't be getting nearly as much playing time as last year...

Im not mad if this is true, he did put up some HUGE games last year

Chuck Jumpers Da Sequel

My guess: He'll be involved in a trade. If not this Summer, then at the deadline.

Easy to move part to make a future deal work. Had we signed Ellington to a 2-3 year deal, no team looking to maintain maximum cap space would accept him as part of a deal to make the numbers work. CJ will be easy to add onto any trade with a team clearing space for 2014 and CJ, Gee, and Andy will be easy to add into a deal for any team looking to unload a contract to get out from the luxury tax line.

Also, probably a final concession from Grant that we won't be signing Dwight and therefore don't need the full 21 million in cap space:chuckles:

$2.225 mil <<< $5.1 mil

But Ellington's QO was only about $3M.

Cheaper and can play SF. Ellington would want more than a one year deal.

Maybe. But is Ellington going to get a multi-year contract for $3M/year? I had thought he wouldn't, but maybe he will. If so, he has the Cavs to thank for the playing time he got with them.
