Winning two or more championships in Cleveland would surely do more for his legacy than one. :chuckle:

I think LeBron's game will age a little better than you're giving him credit for. He has all the skills to develop a game that isn't based on his athleticism. He's a good shooter, he's got a good post game, he's a great passer, he's got great court vision, etc. He does rely on his athleticism a lot, but it's not as if he doesn't have the skills to compensate for when that's gone. He does. The question is whether or not he's willing to adjust his game and shore up his weaknesses.

I would respond, but frankly, I'm kind of sick of the conversation and looking up and getting the drive-by "Disagree." Not how I thought we'd use the rating system....

Right, although gourimoko said that LBJ might retire if the team got to the point where it didn't look like it could contend anymore. As long as they're in the mix, he'd like keep playing for longer.

You'll note that I didn't disagree with that point because, quite frankly, he's probably right.

Yeah, I really hate the disagree button and rarely use it unless someone makes a particularly dumb point (not that we don't have plenty of people doing that constantly).

Gour, damn you( and damn me) for keeping me up in debate mode way later than I wanted to be up last night. I can't imagine ever "disagreeing" with any of your posts because I reserve that for truly asinine, inflammatory, and trollish posts, things you would never be associated with.

Since tone of voice rarely translates in written word, just know that nothing I ever go back and forth with you about has a single ounce of condescension or disrespect.

I actually expected to wake up to much more vitriol and scolding aimed at both of us for clogging up the Blatt thread with so much multi-quoting about LeBron and team building.

There's a reason why literally no one offers a negative rep function.

My wife was sorely pissed... Lol... She's like "wtf is wrong with you?"

Indeed! You're one of my favorite posters on the site, without question. My only comment is more or less about the rating system; but that's something we should discuss in S34. Maybe we should have a vote on it?

Yeah, me too actually... Lol!

were not in medivel time here...

When you hear some of the fan's drivel in gate 8 of Yad Eliyahu and have tahini sauce dribbling all over your hands and clothes from the falafel stand just outside, you realise that yes, you are in medieval times.

More to the point, as someone working in the domain (yes, I know this is a meaningless comment in an anonymous forum), you will find that basketball operations resources at the head coach's disposal in a typical NBA franchise is nothing like in Europe. It would include among other roles:

Assistant coaches
Shooting Coach
Applied Sport Scientist
Manager of Advance Scouting/Player Development
Opposition Scout
Coordinator of International Scouting/Amateur
Coordinator of International Scouting/Pro
Pro Scout
College Scout
Special Assignment Scout
Director of Strategic Planning
Director of Basketball Research & Analytics
Basketball Data Analyst
Basketball Information Analyst
Video Analyst/Player Development
Video Analyst/Personnel
Video Analyst
Basketball Statistician

But, I'm not happy with how our offense looks. It's still drive-and-kick, ISO, and the most basic PnR's.

When it's clicking, we're worldbeaters, when it's not, well...

I just really wish we could get something more complex going. Not necessarily concerned with tons more ball-movement since we've got 2 of the best ISO players on Earth; but, I'd really like to see the Big 3 start to play off one another in the same section of the court rather than LeBron and Irving taking turns at attempting to break down the defense.

One of the Dallas commentators said it best, that it looked like a very best college offense, but when you have guys like Kyrie and LeBron who can do whatever they want on the floor at any time they want, then it just works.

Great game.. but I'm concerned that we're still too reliant on individual performances and not so much a system that makes everyone better.

I agree. BUT, achieving more complex schemes requires practice. Lots of practice. This team had very little practice time and lots of personnel changes. How would you propose to achieve this sans practice?

It also requires the players complete buy-in. You are unlikely to get complete buy in from the best player in the league, who has won everything, seen everything and knows all. So, at this stage, I'm guessing that LBJ is a detriment to adapting more complex schemes.

To me Blatt's success will not be measured by the outcome this year, but how successfully he can transfer his more complex schemes within a year or two. Maybe on a team that doesn't have LBJ on it. I can only assume that that was the original vision of signing Blatt on a four year contract pre Decision 2.0.

As for the outcome this year, we all know that the general fans' consensus will be that if CLE wins it is due to LBJ and if it doesn't it is because of Blatt and that he isn't fit to be an NBA coach and should go back to Europe. I'm sure Blatt knows it too.

I know that there are ×20 resources in the NBA for a coach to use, but just the example of assistants and video analysts was kinda funny, because even europe has that^_^

It's medivel time because Israeli people like to eat middle eastern food? Each country has it's cusine, maybe it's different from the NBA concert atmosphere that theres in games, but I like europian atmosphere much more. Fans standing, singing, cheering, pushing the players, it's a different world here in that regard.

I prefer the NBA concert over hooligans who light fire inside basketball arenas. It's not like it's permitted to do so in Europe, it's just that there's bad enforcement.
What I like about the Maccabi fans is the fact they cheer and sing a lot but without violence. Families with kids go and cheer all the time. I don't see how this video fits in this regard and why you try to generalize all the European fans.

Thats not fire but yahh thats considered illegal. This video just shows the atmosphere that a lot of teams in europe have. It's a lot more exciting to be be really into the game like that singing and going crazy than just sitting down and yelling whenever theres a basket. I dont like all the fire and too-crazy stuff aswell, but in their core europian fans are much more enthuastic.
