I wonder if in the playoffs we'll see Blatt go to the starting lineup more often even though we all know that games evolve different with different match ups, etc., and he likes to match up. The simple mathematical fact is that our starting lineup is the best starting lineup in the NBA by quite a large margin. For the data that's available, from the 2001-2002 year, the Cavs' starting lineup is the MOST SUCCESSFUL starting lineup and the most successful lineup that's played at least 250 minutes together over the past 14 years for which there is data available (I'll post more stats related to that later).

Listed below are the other NBA teams' starting lineups and how they fair per 100 possessions. NOTE: many of the weaker teams didn't have very many minutes for their respective starting lineups as is the case just about every year. For some teams, the starting lineups they put out for most of the year are now defunct due to trades, injuries, etc. I listed multiple starting lineups for multiple teams. Josh Smith...SMH. The Mavs and Rondo...SMH. Here they are:

Cleveland: +27.6 K. Irving | L. James | K. Love | T. Mozgov | J. Smith 330 minutes

Miami: +23.7 C. Bosh | M. Chalmers | L. Deng | D. Wade | H. Whiteside 28 minutes (This could have been a formidable lineup. Miami has run so many different starting lineups that's it's crazy. The Heat's other lineup is listed below. )

Golden State: +19.7 H. Barnes | A. Bogut | S. Curry | D. Green | K. Thompson 640 minutes

LA Clippers +17 M. Barnes | B. Griffin | D. Jordan | C. Paul | J. Redick 879 minutes

Sacramento: +16.1 D. Collison | D. Cousins | R. Gay | B. McLemore | J. Thompson 426 minutes

I think Lebron's game, in the way we know it, will decline. He won't average 27/7/7 for much longer.

But, does anyone think Lebron can't average 10 assists per game? Especially playing with Love/Kyrie. We've always said he is a more athletic version of Magic Johnson.

If he can totally overhaul his game and play as a true point forward, I think he can play into his late 30's as a 18/11 type of player.

One thing to also note: While his leaping ability isn't what it once was, I don't see a decline in his straight-line speed. He's still the fastest player in the NBA.

If he can continue to push the rock like a freight train and see over the defense at 6'9, he will be effective. Especially after 5 years of playing in Blatt's offense and really having it down. He'll just pick teams apart.

I've always seen that as how Lebron's game will age, just firing bullet passes all over the court. It will be beautiful to watch.

EDIT: Shit, I keep thinking this is the Lebron thread

James Jones is the 'stretch 4' that piss poor teams like the Knicks would use down the stretch of a game against the Spurs BECAUSE they don't have the luxury of having a guy like Kevin Love on their roster.

Someone explain this move to me. Blatt looks really bad right now.

Hey guys we should totally fire Blatt and ridicule him on the internet because he had abad coaching performance during a regular season game.

Blatt. Look within. And see that James Jones shouldn't play this many minutes and Mozgov needs to be guarding their bigs.

need to incorporate love more on offense and let him and mozgov play in the 4th.. playing in the 4th builds confidence in players and in teamwork.. we might lose some games but building the players' confidence late in games will be beneficial in the playoffs..

I just can't understand all this bitching and whining about coach Blatt's decisions, it might be more sufferable after a loss, but after getting a W at fucking san antonio, against the fucking spurs who were on a roll...
grow up people!!!

While your bench is the worst in the league at making points, against the choached team in the league with unbelievble depth, you have no way to win with a beautiful game. Yes, Blatt didn't played Mozgov but EVERY one in the game thread said by himself he is worthless today. Yes, Blatt didn't played Love in the crunch time, but EVERY one in this game thread said he is worthless in the way he played today. So Blatt had just one option, to go with KY and Bron and Shump and TT untill we'll win or die. We won fellas. We won, and I'm not we could winning today in other way.

congratulations coach for your first win against Pop. You have a lot to learn from the best coach maybe of all time, but I believe you'll learn what you have to learn. Your winning mentally and the sense for winning is something nobody can learn.

To me, it isn't even about building their confidence. Our starting lineup is our best lineup, why wouldn't we finish out the game with it? I don't think it would result in more losses.

Blatt showed some bad coaching in the 4th.
The lineups were bizzare, the switching on D was terrible and the reactions were slow.

But there were good things too. Some great offensive plays that left Ky either open for a 3 or the lane clear for him. Most of the time our offense looked pretty good, against a very well coached and experienced SAS team.

Blatt and the coaching staff should study the tape of this game and see the mistakes in the 4th.
Knowing Blatt's methodology and how passionate he is about the game, I know he will. And I know in the long run these mistakes in the regular season will be beneficial for better utilizing our roster at later times.

Great win, one of the best basketball games I've ever watched. Up there with some Jordan games.

Blatt's 4th quarter coaching left a lot to be desired, but how amazing was that KI inbounds play to send it into overtime? He was so open on the first look that he didn't even know what to do, and had enough time to take another dribble and still put up the open look!
