Isn't Bradley Beal touted as a future all-star by basketball fans as well? Well him and Dion had similar seasons from a statistical standpoint in spite of the fact that Dion averaged 5 less minutes per game.

I don't get why you go so far out out of your way to bring Dion down. His potential is pretty clear to see.

I think Dion will be a future All-Star. I just see it happening on a team that will allow him to be the primary perimeter creator instead of one that forces him out of his comfort zone.

Can there at least be a middle ground with Dion?

Like a point a view between Rich and Optimus? :chuckles:

Because I think that is where I am.

What are the odds that Wiggins is done growing? It's fairly common for 19 year-olds to still be an inch or two away from their max height. Griffin guessed that Wiggins is still getting taller. If he ends up over 6'9" (reports indicate he's already over 6'8"), is he still best utilized as SG? If not, but the Cavs trade Waiters and sign a starter-quality SF this offseason, could they possibly find themselves in a position two years from now in which they have an overpaid backup behind Wiggins and a hole at SG?

Not only the height, but if Wiggins doesn't take a huge leap in his ball handling and passing then that is exactly the situation they will be in.

I firmly believe that SGs need to have at least one of two skills to be successful - elite ball-handling ability or elite shooting. Wiggins is only average in both departments. He can certainly improve, and I'm sure he will. But the variables involved in Wiggins becoming an elite SG are numerous enough to make it unwise to trade a good player on a great contract simply because some within the organization are too quick to pigeonhole Wiggins as an SG. He very-well could end up severely miscast in that role.

Dion is tough as nails. That was evident last year given the adversity he faced. First, he was somewhat boycotted by favorite son Kyrie and Tristan in the so called buddy-ball escapade. Kryie would not pass to him at times despite Dion being wide open. Then the media ran with claimed rumors about Dion punching Kyrie and being a trouble maker. Then Coach Brown started to try to make him an example by benching him for any mistake while not benching others or pulling him for most of a game.

During his all star game, he should have won MVP, but it went instead to Drummond, for some reason, despite Dion stealing the show.

Despite all of this, Dion stayed tough. The national media and Windhorst ran with claims of infighting.

When Kyrie went down, what did Dion do? Did he pout? No. Was he mentally out of it? No.

He won games and at times took over games. He made the game winning shot against the Pistons as time expired.

This is who we have in Dion.

Trade him? That's a joke.

I would think that before considering trading Dion, they would at least wait to see if Blatt could help him reach his full potential on a consistent basis.

I am not an insider or anything, but I did hear a rumor that it wasn't Kyrie and Dion that was the problem with buddyball. I heard it was Tristan. This came from someone not in the organization that knows them both, and it really soured me on Tristan. Dion is a street guy, and he is not really worldly from what I understand. He doesn't know what some things are like certain fancy foods and things that most people know about, and the guys tease him. Tristan is the main perp from what i was told. He thinks he is really funny and smart.

This is 100% an unsubstantiated rumor, but it make sense to me because Tristan never never passes it out of the post. If I were Dion and I was concerned about my touches, I would be way more pissed at all the opportunities TT was getting and blowing rather than Kyrie getting touches and converting. Dion definitely respects Kyrie, but I don't feel like he respects TT. He has way better chemistry with Zeller and Andy.

I would buy that. When Tristan would get a rebound he would hold it and wait for Irving even if Waiters was ready to run right in front of him.

I still take Beal over Dion everytime. way more upside and an elite shooter at the 2 that this team needs.

That wasn't the point of my post at all. I am interested as to why you think Bradley Beal has "way more upside" though...

Why can't we bring in an SF and have Waiters come off the bench ala Harden ? No reason, we cant keep him just cause him and Irving don't work DEFENSIVELY.

He would kill at as the lead guard on a second unit.

Gilbert/Griffin were asking head coaching candidates how they would get Kyrie and Dion to work together for a reason... Griffin is a fan of both. Don't see Dion being traded unless it nets us another all-star.

Any time someone can't dribble very well, that means he has upside. :chuckles:

No need to trash Beal just to make Waiters look better. Beal has no problem dribbling the ball, and he has plenty of upside just like Waiters.
