Dion Waiters

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Seems very likely that it happens. If history is any guide though, he'll be back to coming off the bench by Christmas.
And if history is any guide, he'll be the starter at the end of next season. He's their best option at the 2, although I see the merits of bringing him off the bench. The same argument applies to JR off the bench and Iman starting, which I'm actually a fan of. Though I think Dion makes more sense in their starting lineup as they don't have quite the offensive firepower the Cavs have in the starting lineup.

JR on the bench means more shots for Love, in my opinion, and that makes more sense than Iman getting more shots off the bench. Sorry, total tangent...

Cavs made out like bandits, cutting our bait loose at prime time, a la Trent Richardson for a 1st rounder.

Dion will never get it. His ego is too big. He thinks he's better than everyone else to a fault, which is why he takes those stupid "hero" shots instead of in the flow of the offense.

Dion will find success in 3 years... in China.

I think Dion could have a breakout year. I really thought it would be this year. I dunno why his catch and shoot numbers weren't better, and I don't know why hr seemingly regressed in regards to team ball. He looked great in the preseason team ball system as did Love by the way. When things broke down into iso heavy ball, things went bad and appealed to his worst instincts.

His biggest problem is humility and maturity. Maybe he can't fix it, but there is a goof chance age can do it for him. I'd like him to put it together. Look at JR now. Hopefully it doesn't take Dion so long.

He isn't their best option. If you start Waiters that gives the starting 5 one above average 3 point shooter. Unless they get a 3 point shooting Center in there he can't start.

Have you looked at their roster? Who is a better option? Morrow? He can't guard ANY SG in the league.

It doesn't matter. What you'll lose by crowding the floor for Westbrook and Durant is far more than you'll gain with Waiters so-so defense. Waiters can't be a starter in this league for a good team unless he gets back to his second year spot up numbers. Shooting guards that can't shoot are not hot commodities.

Durant and Ibaka shoot over 37% from the the three.
OKC gets plenty of spacing.
Dion is a career 32% 3 point shooter and is a season removed from hitting 36% of his threes.
people keep talking about all these coaches getting fired that Dion has gone throughlike its a negative on Dion when its actually something that demonstrates the lack of consistency in coaching Dion has been exposed to in his first 3 seasons. 4 coaches is alot.

Byron( alternate point guard), Mike Brown(mid court option to set up kyrie_), Blatt(catch and Shoot) and Brooks(volume drive and shoot) all wanted to use him in different ways.
Dion is a versatile talent. He is a Small forward in a guards body. Dion has been focused on improving his defense and is finding success at it which is a common struggle for players out of Boheims zone system.

Hopefully Dion changes his offseason regimen because whatever he did last offseason did not work for him.

And yet they started Roberson all freaking year. Talk about squeezing the floor. Dion actually might not be a terrible spot up shooter, despite his down year. The first two years showed he was capable, if not good at shooting catch and shoot 3s.

Kevin Durant barely played this season man.

And we've heard this "who else is there" argument before. I've even argued it. ANd yet every single coach he's had since college has managed to find someone else to start. David Blatt took all of about 2 weeks to decide he'd rather start Shawn Marion (who isn't even in the rotation now) ahead of Dion Waiters. Coaches seem willing to go as far down the bench as they have to to get Waiters out of the starting line-up.

Durant is a SF. They were starting Roberson at SG when Durant was healthy and he squeezes the floor worse than Dion does. I have no idea what you're trying to say here. I'm not sure you do, either.

Except Brooks put singler in at small forward and yanked him to put Dion at small forward and then when roberson was out he kept Dion in the starting lineup and continued starting Dion at the 2 when roberson returned.

Scott Did a typical rookie benching of Dion and then placed him back in the starting lineup.

Brown bench Dion not becuase of Dions play but to mistakenly try and accomodate a broken whiny Bynum.

It will be an interesting offseason for the Thunder to see who wins out the starting shooting guard spot but unllike prior seasons the point guard and starting small forward are open to sharing the court with Waiters.

as far as Marion not being in the rotation . Cavs brought in two guards and Marion is a forward. Inserting Marion in allowed the team to form some chemistry early in the system. Im not seeing this arguments made in respect to Joe Harris , Mike Miller and any of the other guards The Cavs tried out before putting Marion out there.
James told Dion to study Dwayne wade and then got to camp and was told to be Danny Green.

Dion didnt fit with the locker room politics it had nothing to do with his skillset or playing style.
