Eagles 1st round pick watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would say this is just a bad game for Pittsburgh. Philly's Defense is not this dominant. They're playing way over their heads. But you have to like what you see in Wentz.

He looks very good so far but it let's take a step away from the bridge: it's Week 3.

There have been very few passing windows all day long for Ben. That is dominating given the amount of weapons they have.

Their secondary has been outstanding. Even the catches they're getting are contested and in tight windows. Ben is getting flustered like any QB would at this point. Getting hit a lot, and guys can't get much separation.

100 attempts and no interceptions, yeah I'm jealous of Eagles fan.

Whether they're this good, or not, has yet to be seen long-term.

But given the Steelers offense is definitely no joke. And they might have the best core of receivers in football.

Kinda absurd to say a team that's shutting them out of the end zone hasn't been impressive. Were you even watching the game?

Didn't nick foles throw 2 interceptions over a full season for the Eagles once?

Eh, it is what it is. I remember a lot of people here and other places who didnt like Wentz. Turns out, most were wrong.

There will be other quality QBs to come out.

Like @The Wizard of Moz, I preferred Goff. But would have been fine with Wentz. His intangibles scream success. His intelligence is off the charts.

One gets the impression that they over-thought the whole QB thing. Too many numbers, too many statistics. Guys like Wentz are a tough call due to a lack of hard numbers; but one's gut must also take a prominent role.

What concerns me is that perhaps instinct isn't a priority in their analytic model at present. Because it looks like they done fucked up on this one. Extra picks are all well and good, but they don't mean dick if you passed on a franchise QB to get them.

One thing I think might get lost in my trying to stress that it's still early is that I like you wanted to draft Wentz. I'm far from a Wentz hater. I just think people are rushing to anoint him. Let's not forget he has had a significant injury history as well.

Could turn out we totally whiffed but week 3 is just way too soon to get a feel for any of the qbs

Too early to say anything for sure, but since it'd be silly to ask people to wait 3 years before discussing Wentz, here we are.

I feel like the guy who left Oprah in HS because she was fat and ugly.

Wentz would have been a guessing game with the analytics part because lack of competition he played against being from a non-fbs school. I think the gut call you are asking for was a big measure that Ray Farmer based his picks on. This front office had to step away from that to at least give themselves and the coaching staff more than a year or two to right this ship.

To take a guy like Wentz you need support from the owner way beyond what the Browns have right now. A hit on Wentz would have been great but a miss would have thrown this team into a death spiral. The team wouldn't have any facts or numbers to explain the pick except the gut call.

The Jets do. Outside of AB the Steelers are just average this year. If Martavis can get his shit together than they are in the conversation. Just my .02.
