Game 17 | Cleveland Cavaliers (9-7) @ New York Knicks (4-15) |December 4th, 2014 | 8 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yea, I'm sorry but I just don't buy this narrative that if a guy doesn't play his best game then he A) played poorly and B)didn't play with effort. There is middle ground that exists here. More than just good or bad and maximum effort or no effort. LeBron played with effort.
It was a bit of en exaggeration. I just thought he played pretty effortless defense through the first half. Especially after turnovers

God would I hate to be a knick fan the last few years. They are terrible without any sort of future.

Granted, I am happy for the win and super exited for Irving but I am so beyond frustrated with this defense tonight, it's not funny.

First, I will talk about the one (maybe 2) positives I saw in getting this win...

Irving was crazy good, obviously he had to be to get his season high of 37 but I felt his defense was there as well.

James with 12 assists, he was finding the open man and I love that so much about him. He never has been me first, always about team.

However, there is a double-edged sword when it comes to all those assists, offensively he wasn't living up to his standards. Dude missed 10 shots and had 19 points. While I love to see him distribute, you can do that but also try and find your shot organically to set a tone for the rest of the squad. Plus, if your point small forward has 12 assists and your point guard only has 2 and got them in the 4th, that is a tad disappointing. But I will cut Irving some slack as he was on fire tonight and he has been dishing out assists quite frequently up until tonight.

Now onto the lack of defense. I kept shaking my head and saying outloud this is the New York Knicks. I was just waiting for a string of defensive intensity because with the Knicks, you stop them 3 or so straight possession and you score, game over. Granted, neither team really shot the ball well tonight expect for a select few individuals but its still alarming.

Much love and respect to Irving, he was balling. That cat is flexible, I don't think I remember the last time I saw him with a normal layup, he is always reversing or flipping it up. Gotta have been his new kicks...

Onto the Raptors tomorrow, I want to see that defensive intensity they lacked tonight...

17 knicks Oboards to our 27 defensive rebounds.

New York gets a second shot on nearly 40% of their possessions. It is unfathomable that we won this game. Unfathomable.

That is fucking frighteningly bad.

Man crushing on Kyrie right now

The game we won tonight, we would've lost a couple weeks ago.

This team is starting to gel (and learning to win together) and it is showing in this winning streak, no matter how ugly the wins are.

Turned out to be a great win, since you see everything that needs to get fixed, but still get credit for the win.

Are we ready for LeBron at the point and Kyrie at the off-guard, on a consistent basis? Not sure. It's a waste of Bron's size and strength. Love still needs to find himself in this offense and find his stroke. Varejao, TT, and Marion were hot garbage tonight. Both the interior D and the perimeter D were not very good; the Knicks just started missing shots. The entire bench was useless again. Sure, Dion made a few shots, but everything else he did was atrocious. His terrible shots are so disruptive. Blatt needs to figure out the rotations. SOMEONE has to be a consistent contributer off the bench - someone not named Dion.

Wow it's 4/10 times they got a second shot and they still couldn't beat us

Crazy

yea its also a team that loses 3 times as much as they win.

not something Id feel good about bro.

I just need them to beat the Raptors tomorrow. I've been getting so much shit for being a Cavs fan living in Toronto that each win just makes them cockier and more annoying.

We really need a 4th big: I like the 3 we have but with just 3 guys the odds are that all of them are going to have a sub-par game not all that infrequently. You sometimes need another guy in there who is ready to mix it up, get some boards, throw his body around, and finish inside.

Their fans talk big for a franchise that has had, what, two good seasons since their inception 20 years ago?

If you look up mediocre in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of Rob Ford hugging the dinosaur version of Chris Bosh.

Andy and Tristan have been awful on the defensive boards and there's no two ways about it and Love hasn't been great. It would be great if we didn't need James to go in and grab boards so he can leak out on the break but he just might have to. The one thing I thought for sure we would be great at was rebounding but it hasn't happened. The team doesn't have the personnel to be elite on defense so it has to clean up he defensive boards to be average.

On a side note, I thought Amare looked pretty good tonight. Thought he was done but he's really played well the last 4 games (18 ppg on 60+FG%)
