Geaux Damian Jones Geuax

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He looked athletic and comfortable, especially on put backs near the hoop. More so than Mobley, who still seems a bit unnerved when outside dunking range.

He got better as he played more.

Yeah he looked rough to me early going and had me worried. Definitely seemed to settle, or maybe it was the lesser competition. Just need to him to be competent. Anything is a bonus

I am worried about the turnovers, but he did seem good at finding guys cutting. He only had 1 turnover the other night and it was a rebound slapped out of his hands. I know his hands are supposed to be bad, so I will be looking for that.

His screening was good, and his rim protection was good. If they can keep his offensive game simple, I think he will be great as a backup.

Niang with his wide body was also a good screener, so I am also thankful for that. Last year it felt like only Allen was screening properly because Mobley and Love both are mainly slip guys.

Damian Jones has been on like 8 teams in the last 4 years and is 28. Like any player am sure he'll flash a good moment here and there, but otherwise IMO he is just not good. Hope I'm wrong, and he can carve out a meaningful role with the Cavs. Otherwise would probably keep an eye on any bigs released from other teams who might be intriguing and/or keep an eye our for any under the radar guys buried on some team's bench who might be available in a trade.

As long as he can play ~7-10mpg (at most) he'll serve his purpose. Between him, Tristan and Evan, they only need to cover ~18mpg at the 5.

I have not been impressed. I think they should give the lesser Mobley a shot. Higher IQ and more fundamentally sound. Yes Jones is more athletic but it's not like Jones is gobbling up rebounds.

There's value in being a near 7 footer and extremely athletic. He is also sneaky smart in this offense, making some beautiful pocket passes and cuts. I take this discount bargain bin dude everyday at the price, even if I don't believe he's going to be in the playoffs rotation.

Minimal expectations for this guy. He just barely scraped them last night.

Time for a bump in this thread to examine those far too many Damian Jones supporters. At least, JBB has this jewel of an acquisition rightfully placed in the hierarchy.
