it seems to cluttered. I don't see why there has to be a "Cavs Forum" a "Gameday Forum" a "video" so on and so forth. Part of the problem with posting here is that you don't know where you should post it as there are 15 different forums.
That is the one of the best features of the board. Can you imagine if all of that was in one forum? Talk about clutter. There are enough videos people post that warrant its own forum. They typically do not get much of a post response - keeping them separate from the main forum keeps the relevant. There are so many new topics in Cavs Talk, the video would be off to the second page in no time. Would get lost in the clutter. With its own forum, one can go into Cavs Talk to talk Cavs, then to the Video forum to see them. Isn't it great to be able to come to the board to find a video you saw a month ago - easy to check into the Video section to find it.
There is enough traffic here (5000 + members) to have multiple specific forums to keep things organized. One of the things I dislike about realgm is that everything is under 1 forum. Very disorganized format.
The game thread forum deserves its own section as well. This is self explanatory. Just visiting that forum and seeing all of the game threads, with the thumbs up and down for past threads notifying a win or loss, is a pleasure. It keeps its consistency in a clean format - not amongst the individual threads.
Regarding the troll thing...I wouldn't put too much stock into that. Regulars have fun with it. I don't think someone should be banned for being a fan of another team. I quite enjoy the competitive banter that exists between opposing teams' posters. Where it crosses the line is with the users. Sure, a opposing team's fan can be easily found. At times, I have seen posters cross the line a bit if they disagree with their viewpoint. It escalates, others jump in, and a banning occurs. At times it is well warranted. At times, I feel if posters would respect that people around the country have differing viewpoints, and take what is said with a grain of salt, we can co-exist with fans of other teams. That's one of the great features of a fan message board - banter with opposing fans.
We had over 1000 new registrants over the last month - sure there were some bad apples. I'm concerned a bit, because I've seen more than once a poster saying they might be afraid to post something in fear of being banned. A mod does not just ban a person. They are issued multiple warnings. Mods discuss if the individual should be banned, reviewing their posts, etc. One should not be afraid to post their opinion on a topic. That is what is welcomed. Even if they are a fan of another team. The flaming afterwards is where it may get dicey. Everyone has to understand that, and be cognizant of the fact that this a discussion forum.
I feel like even though I'm a Cavs fan I'll be banned from here about talking bad about the Cavs.
I'm sorry to hear that, and I hope that is not the case. I enjoy reading differing viewpoints on all aspects of the Cavs. If we are deficient in an area, you can be sure to read about it here. When a warning from a mod is considered occurs when it gets disrespectful after the fact. That is something one has to live with when you have a community with so many members. It may sound childish...but a PM to a mod with your concern is all that needs to be done.
